Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Not that you care probably but that is one of the nice things about anime. Well, I supposed the benefit would be that it's over quicker. ;-)
It's just a personal preference. I don't "get" the attraction to anime. I'm happy to leave it to those of you who do.

I wasn't really talking about politics, I was talking about the attitude of English professors I've dealt with to think that liberalism = intelligence, and grade accordingly. I had a history teacher who was a major lib, but she respected other peoples' views. Since I could defend mine and state mine adequately, she liked me. It was one of the best fluff classes I ever had. But those professors are the exception, not the rule, today.
Also I absorbed a great deal of the "hard science undergraduate" attitude of "we have to take these easy classes, because they're required, and we have to put up with arrogant professors who will downgrade us for any of our opinions, but in a few years we'll be succesful and this won't matter". But it hurts so much to spend time and money on a class where you get your views torn apart or ridiculed.

That's what I love about it. Easy to take a break in the middle of homework, watch one episode, and then go back.
Then again, it's like potato chips - you can't eat just one...

But you made an over-generalization. All I am saying is that you're painting with too broad a brush.

Hmm. I didn't think I was implying that every who studies English is a no-good lousy liberal commie sympathizer; I just meant that all the ones at my undergraduate school seemed to be so, so I wouldn't have wanted to spend time around them to get a degree in that field...

I think it's been covered... I get ya both.
More importantly.... There are rapid and wacky new developments in the Michael Jackson Carnival.

He was missing from court when it was supposed to start so the judge issued a warrant for his arrest if he didn't show up within the hour... his attorneys were having very hectic conversations on cell phones, MJ was apparently in a hospital an hour away, claiming back pain or some other 'distress'. Somehow they convinced him to get in the car and come to court, but he missed the deadline and showed up wearing hospital pajamas and looking really stoned. Not sure what's happening now, no cameras in courtroom. They may revoke his bail for pulling this stunt, if the judge holds true to his threat.
It was fabulous theater.

I think he's a spoiled child in every way. I don't see him in jail... I imagine when he really sees no way out of this, he'll kill himself.
