The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm really extremely proud of them. But I must admit, it always made me feel pretty safe when they flew over...when they circled, that was really sweet...but just seeing them fly over even when they didn't circle always made me feel great.

And not only that, it made my jedis feel safe. And for THAT, my friend, I can't thank them enough.

'Course I do have some moulding that I'll have to paint around.

The thing with popcorn ceilings is that they have thousands of tiny sharp points that break off for nothing.

If anything brushes the ceiling, particles come floating down and get all over everything.

I'd love to scrape every bit of it off, but my mom likes it.

You've got it, sis.

Do you have a ping list for news about your son? If so, I'd like to be on it...

I've knocked the stuff down and got it in my eye before...

It's not Scottish...it's CRAP!

Eek! I'm glad you got that taken care of! 200 bucks is nothing compared to your life, or the Jedis' safety.

We got some furniture and then Rosie's brother showed up in town. I'll let her tell you about that.

When we did the big remodel of the beach house... that was a decision we made: no popcorn. There's popcorn in the living room from before, and we didn't take it out, but in all the places we re-did the ceiling, like the front room and my room and downstairs... we just painted the ceiling.

Cutting in is the worst part of painting.

I'd rather cut in than roll a textured ceiling.

I don't understand the attraction of popcorn ceilings. I don't think it's even nice to look at.

You've got it.

I just received private mail from another freeper that has also retrieved a voicemail message regarding his son who is in Iraq (something has happened but the son is not hurt). The freeper thinks that maybe our sons were in the same area. Will let you know if I hear any more.

I just found out last week that my nephew, Alexander, is flying Apache Longbows in Afghanistan! Last week, when that Chinook crash took place, my brother, Gerry, (the one who was interviewed in that article to which I pinged y'all yestereday) wrote an e-mail to all the sibs to let us know that Alexander was ok, that he wasn't involved in it. He had been on a Chinook earlier that week, going out on a mission to deliver supplies and help folks in a couple of outlying villages.

I knew that he'd been in Germany, and was going to be deployed, but I had thought he was going to Iraq, and didn't know exactly when. Gerry and Susan were pleased that he would be in Afghanistan because it seemed more 'peaceful' than Iraq. Of course the first night he was there, there was a rocket attack!
Please keep him in your prayers, as well.

It was VERY empty sky that day... Iowa being so central and all the sky on a clear day ALWAYS has contrails, except that day.

That whole week after 9/11 was strange. We're on the flight path from the West into Logan, and there are contrails over us ALL the time. Not only were there not any contrails, there were hardly any clouds that week, and the sky was such a brilliant blue. It was lovely.
