The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well in my current "real job", they don't really want people doing weekend lab work. When I come in on a weekend, it's usually for an hour or so - just long enough to get the samples loaded on the instrument.

I have had a "real job' where they expected everyone to work every weekend. Acutally it was a "loser job" with sucky management and a guvimnt job was better than that one. :)

Well, and like I say...they are good to let him work on that thesis during the workday...a kind of "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" deal. And I probably wouldn't even be feeling grumpy if it wasn't two weekends in a row and if I saw him during the week!

I just really like the guy! LOL

Yesterday, he came in around 6pm and I had felt kinda down all day, not too bad...just a little down...and in he walked and the next thing I knew, we're out in the shop, I'm waxing the Bug and he's putting together a new metal shelf unit a guy at work gave him! Matthew made us hotdogs for supper and was so proud of himself. Life was just a delight for about four hours! I completely forgot I was blue! LOL

Oh! And probably the real reason I hate it that he had to work this weekend is because I got a real cheap car rental! I was gonna rent a car for a day and drive us down to this Beetle salvage yard that is open on Saturday. Acres and acres of nothing but salvage Beetles! It's about an hour away and our car isn't safe enough to drive that far.

So I reserved the cheap rental and then he told me he had to do this creek thing.

ARGHH!!!

Joshua just came in here, snacking on some dry cereal. Sat down beside me and read the label on the box...

"Made with real peanut butter."

He read that.

Think he knows how to read? LOL!! Tickles me to death.

The fruits of my labor so far...

This is the "barn", a storage area off my thrid floor balcony.

This is a view of the barn door from the balcony...

The door is open, and there's my carp-- camping carp, mostly-- on the shelves I assembled this morning....

I have another set, but I don't wanna. I'll offer them to my cousin/roommate; if he wants to assemble and use them, there's room in the barn. If not, they'll go back to the store.

Here we had a false alarm...no sighting of the Plaid-Crested Duffer. A closely related species, the Lesser Ball Whacker, is barely visible here....

Yes, TRISMS :D :D :D I have that bookmarked to utilize. I promised the hubby though we would finish this program...although, I am thinking I will just have her do the basics (math, reading, grammar, vocab, science, history, book report) until July, take a break and have her take an SAT test, and then go from there. From what you tell me, TRISMS sounds like it would be the perfect program to get into at this stage since she is in 5th grade.

She's been having a lot of issues with the English language, although she does write well, and learns to correct her spelling quickly, I really think she could benefit from also learning Latin, which Seton offers but not until later.

Hope all is well your way!

So it's nasty weather there? Shame... Rosie's brother's wedding is today. I'm sure they're having it indoors, though!

It is indoors, but you're right... it makes it dreary to try to get there all dressed up without getting wet. There's a few sunbreaks here or there, hopefully one of them will be over the wedding. :~D

Fine for me, it didn't load slowly. Can't say it loaded notably faster than most pictures but it wasn't slow.

Well, what's important is that the pics hold up and don't start to bog down, the way some can on threads.

The benefit to this new server is that we can very the size of pictures beyond the standard dimension Snapfish sets them all to.

Can't you just use the height or width attributes in the HTML tags to do that? That's what I do.
