The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Um... yeah... maybe I'd better go take the Frying Pan of Doom off the stove. Don't want hot slime ending up all over the kitchen...

Yeah...not only would it be messy, but also it might incite the toaster to violence.

Just put in my new DVD burner (the other one died.) It's amazing how much better it works when you set the jumpers right. :)

There's a squirrel young 'un that was teasing Miss Cat from the other side of the storm door. Think I should have released the cat?

Those squirrels is tricksy. Might have hurt Miss Cat.

Two of the little rats bold as brass right up to the front door, if you please!

Hmm, perhaps they've mistaken you for someone who likes squirrels.

Picture of Steve "smaagee" in the paper today. The story is not about him but he's in it:

They were some pretty clueless-looking squirrels.

But then...maybe it was an evil ruse to draw attention away from the toaster....

Rosie... Here is an overhead shot of the Experience Music Project at the Seattle Center: You tell me what you think it looks like ;~D

It's right at the Seattle Center, right under the Space Needle.

Something else worth doing on Sunday if you don't do anything ~else~ would be to go to Seattle and take a ferry boat ride somewhere. You don't even have to get off the boat if you park and walk on. It's a good way to see the sights and get out on the water, pretty cheap.

Evenin' folkses... [gag] The dreaded E.M.P. What a mess of a gawdawful building it is. Maybe someday we'll learn to love it, but in the meantime...

I ~have~ heard, however, that the exhibits ~inside~ are very well done and it is a fun place to go. Haven't cared to get close enough to it to dare, though.

It looks like a technicolor vomit. ;~D
I think they do a lot of history of rock and roll type stuff, as opposed to history of all music, but the ~Cottons~ especially Bilbo Bagpipes, seemed interested in that.

He has a rash that won't go away. It was on his face, then on his neck and then on his back. He went to the V.A. hospital for a biopsy (100 mile+ trip) waited a few days and the results came back - inconclusive. He says a lot of the guys got it while they were in the desert.

Tinnitis in one ear from mortar fire. Other than those things I guess he is ok. I told him he was in good company with the tinnitis, Ronald Reagan had it. He said that didn't make it any better.

I followed procedure and pinged him this time since I am talking about him.

Sorry... I hadn't heard about that. Prayers that it clears up in time away from the desert.

There probably really is some pretty cool stuff there that Rosie & Co would seriously enjoy, from what I hear. I don't think its strictly a rock-and-roll sort of thing, but a "wholistic" thing with music across many genres.

Heck... when you're Paul Allen and you have a few extra tens of millions layin' around and you write blank checks and say "make me a music thingy" this is the sort of thing that happens.

hey, thought you'd like to know, I went over to a friends house today to help him build stalls in his new barn...

the barn is steel girder, 88' x 60' free standing structure, with a 15' x 88' lean-too addition that the stalls are in... nice training ring... this is adjoining a 60' x 50' metal barn that was already there...

he raises PasoFinos... got 39 on the premises, 10 undergoing training... some of these horses are nationally ranked... one was a national champion as a three year old...

he put in a nice double-wide for his trainer and her husband on the place...

did I mention he's a doctor?... great guy... beautiful ranch...

if'n ya'll come this a way, he says yer welcome to come pay him a visit...
