The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

There's a...I would guess 70s era VW bus for sale in town here. Light beige color. Every time I pass it, I think of you. :-)

And you know that Mom is grinning from ear to ear.

Last Thursday he also received a bigger knife from you guys and he was just elated. He informed me that he had already written a note for the first knife that he had received and that he would now write another for the wonderful second surprise gift from you guys. He was very pleased and said that his buddies were jealous. He was already wearing the knife the same day he received it.

Thank you guys so very much. Not only for your kindness to my son, but to all our men and women that are in harms way in order to preserve our freedom and to pave the way for democracy for others.

May God bless each and every one of you that are involved.

Yep...that's our ultimate goal...a split screen bus. That's the older model. Have you seen the one with the yodeling family in the Radio Shack commercial? I wish I could find it online, but so far I haven't been able to.

I still haven't seen that, but then, I don't have TV. I asked my sister if she'd seen it - she works in housekeeping at the hospital and ends up seeing TV a lot since people have it on in the rooms. I said "have you seen the Radio Shack commercial with people yodeling in a VW bus?" And she looked at me like I had two heads.

Guess not.

I don't have tv so I haven't seen it either. Since we know 2J is an unreliable person, I won't believe in the existence of this commercial until we have some proof. Screen shots would do. Sworn affidavits from Radio Shack would be better.

;-p

Ha ha ha! I laughed outloud when I read that.

I can imagine.

I've only seen it once, wish I could see it again.

Ping to 3445. I'll be sending him the vest adaptor as soon as I get them in stock. That's a photo of the "big knife" he received from the Hobbit Hole.

SSQ has been an e-bay shopper par excellence the last couple of months. He's been able to get some great deals on 500' spools of wire for doing the electrical work on the addition. He's also bought a BIG concrete mixer for doing the work on the footings, foundation and basement floor, and a smaller one for me to mess around with doing the pavers for the driveway around the back and the countertops. The large one has a gas motor right now, but he bought a 5 HP electric motor (also on ebay) to convert it so we can use it inside, if need be. The smaller one had an electric motor already.

He's lovin this!

I really love Ebay! I've only had one bad experience, where I asked if the whistle they were selling was a Feadog and they said it was and I paid for a Feadog and it wasn't one, just a cheap knockoff. I demanded my money back, they gave me my money back told me I could keep the whistle anyway.

So it really worked out ok.

I use eBay more than I should...lately for cheap-ish fountain pens. But y'all know that I'm kinda funny that way.

The latest is a chrome and red Parker 21 from about the early 50's - wasn't a fancy pen even then, and now it's well worn. Definitely not a collector's item, even if it WAS in good condition - it's just not that kind of pen. But it tickles me no end that it might have been used by a kid a littler older than my Dad. I wonder what sort of life it's had, and what it's written over the years! It writes well.

Off to walmart - hafta get some OTCs for my allergies. No bigger bummer than having stuffy sinuses and ears that won't pop at 30,000 ft. :(

Well, the plan was to wander through the historic shopping district this evening. But, *snuffle*sniff* I'm just not feeling up to it.

OUCH! Clare has problems flying sometimes. Her ears won't pop either and she gets such fierce earaches!
