The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Cats like me, because I treat them like cats, not dogs. I ignore them and if they want to have something to do with me, they're free to.

Just hope Rosie's Cats like you or Rosie will have to get her own apartment. :)

I can't be sure, but I think the squirrels figgered out how to open up the suet cage I had for the birds. Got 'em a treat this week, it was peanut flavored. Was hangin' open empty this mornin'.

Maybe it'll clog their arteries.

My boss reported having such a plague of squirrels around his house (well inside the city), he bought a pretty-good BB gun with a scope and has become quite a sniper.

I worry about that fella sometimes.

Nah, I'll just lock myself in my room and ignore the critters.

We just got back from seeing "Miss Saigon" at the local Community Theatre. It was very good, and the girls loved it. I was a bit taken aback at the first scene though in the, ahem, bordello. Kinda raucus, but all these girls are high schoolers, so I hope their Mamas won't be too upset at us Girl Scout leaders taking them to see such a den of iniquity! ;o)

I put the fixins for a loaf of Garlic-Cheese bread in the bread machine and put it on the timer to be done just about the time we get home from Church. I'm doing an experiment with the ham. Instead of having to have the boys remember to turn the oven on and set the cook timer, my friend Cynthia gave me an interesting way to do the ham in the crock pot! So I've got my 8 1/2 lb. spiral sliced ham sitting in a mixture of gingerale and the spicy mix that you'd normally use for the glaze. It sure smelled good when I mixed it up and poured it over the ham! Got it on low, and it will be done about the same time as the bread. All I'll have to do is cook up some frozen green beans and mix them with some buttery roasted almonds. The salad's already done, so we'll be able to eat before 1pm. Woo Hoo!

Then I can make the chocolate Easter Bunnies I never got around to on Sat. afternoon! I've already mixed up a sugar free raspberry truffle filling and a sugar free dark chocolate hazelnut truffle filling. I'll do the regular chocolate hazelnut filling in the afternoon. That's the one that SSQ and Paul want in their Easter Bunnies!

Sounds normal to me.

The ham we're having is a honeybaked ham - precooked and ready to eat. They're expensive but goooood!

Getting ready for church here... must ingest caffeine...

Happy Resurrection Sunday, in case anyone here is harboring a secret "Easter's adapted from pagan holidays" urge.

I shall be having a very interesting Easter dinner, since half the guests are non-Christians from very different cultures, and half the rest are 'cultural Christians' only. Who knows, might be an opportunity.

He is risen indeed!

Alleluia!!

We did a Postlude today that was a variation on "Ode To Joy", one of my all time favorite choral pieces. We done good! The Holy Spirit was a movin through us, for sure!
