Not Mr. Darcy! He's such a sweet winsome cat. He's our adopted stray who's sucked up to the neighbors...just in case.
Heh. Miss Emily has personality to spare although she gets rather grouchy with vets.
Just got through trimming the grape vine. I found a vine that was sending out roots so I think I'll bring it back with me...uprooted a baby nandina bush too. Wonder how it'll like Kansas.
*Sniff* All that's left of TheGarden are some chives and a few clumps of catnip. Oh well. Sister says the deer are getting bolder coming up almost to the patio so they'd probably devour a garden anyway.
Found my garden rake. :)
Pecan pie - baking. Bread - rising. It's been ages since I've kneaded dough. Felt really good. House is approaching a semblence of unpackedness - I've got less than two weeks to the deadline, after all!
Back when I worked at the Detroit Police Department, we'd sometimes wander over to Griswold Sporting Goods. They were the equipment provider to all the Detroit pro sports teams, and their second floor had a HUGH gun department. Most cops bought their personal weapons there because they got 10% discounts, as I did.
One day we were there drooling over the latest firepower. Some wino walks in, and pulls a Walther PPK from his pocket. Instantly two uniforms, three plainclothes, and three employees draw down on him. I was trying to flatten myself on the floor like a wad of bubblegum.
The bum, after placing the weapon on the counter and backing away with his hands behind his head, explained that he "found" it, and wanted to know "where the bullets went". The PPK was taken by the senior cop, where it was no doubt turned in to the gun room.
BECOME the floor. LOL!
I'm fixing to go make some homemade candies for Easter! Gonna try my hand at some little candies and medium sized bunnies with various fillings; raspberry creme, chocolate mint creme, buttercreme, and Chocolate Hazelnut creme.
Yum!
I think I put too many pecans in the pie. They formed a top-crust and the inside didn't cook quite right. Hopefully it'll still be good.
Good Afternoon All; got home about 1400 hrs. Been at the office with a couple of other miscreants. Finished up and got out of there.
OT - congrats on b-ball, guess Tarheels are in the next round, Dook lost I heared.
g'nad - how was the pinewood derby/archery meet?
300wm - hope detroit doesn't melt 'em down each year like KC does.
bear - looks like there is four NMLRA listed shoots, clubs are in Ft. Davis, Lake Jackson, Wichita Falls and Brady, if you and Rose are so inclined.
I've needed dough for quite a while. Nyuck! Nyuck! Nyuck!
Heh...don't think so. I'll just get a new one.
The pecans are supposed to be on the top crust with a sort of gelled looking inside layer. I can't take too much Pecan Pie, it hurts my teeth!
They sure do melt 'em, at least the trash ones like cheap .22s and shotguns. Make a big deal about it, too.
They never explained how one cop wound up with over 5000 pieces of "elite" weaponry in his barn. He conveniently committed suicide, and the case was closed. Nope, nobody else involved. The guns just somehow mysteriously vanished from the closely-guarded smelter shipment, and magically transported themselves 200 miles away.
Just like a more recent mystery of how a $9/hour civil servant, whose sole job was to take confiscated drugs, unescorted, from a crime scene to the police property room. $10 million in coke magically transformed itself into powdered sugar in the property room. The guy is doing 3-5 after a trial, and investigation that determined that he worked absolutely alone in the scheme, and there was no way anybody could know that he was ripping them off.
There are also a couple of bridges up for sale in Detroit.
Yeah, the problem is the pecans got too brown before the inside solidified - but maybe it'll firm up in the fridge.
We're having ten people to dinner. Some of them will make sure I don't have more than one piece.
All cats are evil. It's part of being a cat.
They're only evil to bad people. :) Always trust the judgement of your cat.
