Here are some other replies I gave FReepers about that thing. The tires on that thing are close to if not over 5 feet tall.

It's called the Hydro Ax. Chops 8 or 10" cedar trees into mulch with one pass. One of those will clear about 40 acres of solid cedar in 8 hours, and all that's left is cedar chips.

They are used quite a bit in the Texas Hill country - cut several hundred acres for the ranchers.

One ranch cut just over 750 acres, and within a year, springs that had not flowed for years were back running 24/7/365.

Actual picture here

It looks like a real man's stump grinder. Does it go at the trees at that angle to take 'em down and mulch them in one fell swoop? Boy, I'd like to try that baby. Must make a hell of a sound.

That is the angle used to grind up the larger trees - 8" and larger. Smaller trees just get mowed down.

For its size, it really doesn't make much noise with soft wood like cedar. Hardwoods do make some loud noises.

Smaller trees just get mowed down.

Sure looks fun to drive!

I'm thinking that it would've been good to use in the movie, Fargo.

Doesn't she feel strange being the only one without a pancake on her head?

Actually, in winter I wear my heated hat.
