Should pornography be illegal?
Feb 28th 2005 | Me

Prostitution: one adult pays another adult for sex- is illegal

Pornography: Where one adult pays two adults to have sex and brings a camera, This is legal.

Pornography has been around for over one hundred years, since the time of the camera,

but it has only been the last few decades where it became the money making industry that it is today. And today's pornography is much much worse.

This question came to me after reading this article

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1353029/posts

an excerpt "The Justice Department is appealing the dismissal of an obscenity case in Pittsburgh in which a federal judge said prosecutors went too far in trying to block the sale of pornographic movies over the Internet and through the mail. The case initially was prosecuted under Ashcroft""

Should pornography be illegal?

It's an opinion question, you answer, give your reasons. Is it free speech or not? Why. And where is the line drawn? Has pornography promoted homosexuality and unsafe sex? Or is it a privacy issue?

Should there be standards on pornography?

Concerned Women for America say No- what do you think?

Well, I always thought that pornography would have to display two people in the act of intercourse. Playboy is photographs of women. But, yes it is pornography. It is a lesser degree of pornography but it's porn alright.

"" Children and yes,you are a child (or someone pretending to be one and not doing a good job of it,BTW),don't belong on FR.""

That makes me laugh. I'll forgive you because you voted for Bush too.

I prefer the way nopardons so eloquently put it. She is so much older and wiser than you, you illinformed newbie. ;-)

BTW, a belated welcome to FR. Don't let some of the cranky old people get you down. You seem to have your head on straight and will make it just fine around here.

You may laugh until you are blue in the face;however, a very great many of your posts and threads are not only childish, but NO 18 year old, especially on who lives in such proximity to Manhattan,is as childishly unsophisticated as you try to appear to be.

281- "Playboy is photographs of women. But, yes it is pornography. It is a lesser degree of pornography but it's porn alright."

Perhaps, when you get a bit older and start enjoying sex more, you will appreciate erotica/porn more.

Look back on this thread in about 10 years.

Look back on this thread in about 10 years.

If you still feel the same way, I will feel sorry for you and your husband, if you have one.

""Perhaps, when you get a bit older and start enjoying sex more, you will appreciate erotica/porn more.""

Really, tell that to the women of "Concerned women for America." You know, not every couple has to have a porn video playing in the backround.

Sorry, I don't agree with those that would emasculate men and feminize our culture.

As I said, when you start enjoying sex more (more often? or perhaps when you lose your virginity?), you may appreciate it more, and come to understand that it is just one of the many enjoyable parts of life.

Women wanted to become equal, and be brought down off their pedestal. Bring sex down from its pedestal and start enjoying it.

Remember, the old saying -

"Virtue is it's own reward."

well, also remember the corolary:

"Chastity is its own punnishment."

Oh My GOD, you really have some audacity.

And you have it all wrong too!

If you think that porn makes men masculine. Well, lets look at the "sexual revolution" the feminist movement brought. Part of the "Sexual Revolution" is porn. It makes women objects not women.
You have more out of wedlock births, men being masculine (in your point of view) and having sex with as many women as they can, more STDS (that's really masculine isn't is"),

I can't belive this! I can't believe you just said that.

government-imposed virtue is false virtue

I am NOT a Libertarian but your point is well made. I am anti-prohibition on marijuana and an ex cop to boot.

On this subject, however, I will remain on the sidelines. [In the Dallas police academy I did an essay and speech on why I thought prostitution should be legalized...LOL] That's as far as I'll take it. I'm not going to address "porn."

BTW I indulge in neither activity.

I do not appreciate the insults directed at the original poster though unless someone knows something I don't.

I can't shed any light on that. There might be some history among the various posters, but I am not that familiar with any of them.

What about "art depicting the beauty of two people being physically intimate?"

If they are putting it on display, it ceases to be intimate, by definition. Hence it is debased.

195 - So, photographing something debases its value?

No, putting an intimate act on display for everyone to see debases its value. When it becomes public, or accesible to pervs willing to pay for it, it ceases to become intimate, by definition.

Yes porn should be illegal.

Now comes the porn definition discussion.

By the way porn has been around since way before the camera.

Taking us back to the proper thread for this discusion.

No, Things were handwritten. And I NEVER SAID there were no books priot to Johan Guttenberg's invention of the Printing Press. THERE WERE MONKS, Did you know that? I knew that.

Did you know that some of those monks put pornographic images in their manuscripts?

That the monks only were in the copying business for about a thousand years?

That they were not the only ones who were in the copying business?

Girl you are in a hole. Quit digging.
