Man naked waist down nabbed after 100 mph chase
RIPON -- A suspect with no pants or underwear on broke his ankles trying to flee from Ripon Police Wednesday.
Christopher M. Studer, 30, of Manteca, was apprehended on the roof of a shed and transported to San Joaquin County Hospital at around 9 p.m. Sergeant Steve Merchant said that the Ripon Police Department will be forwarding charges to the District Attorney's Office.
The entire affair began when Ripon police officer Scott King noticed a black Mazda Protege around 8 p.m. that had a defective headlamp and had made an illegal left turn.
King tried to stop the Protege as it entered southbound Highway 99, and a pursuit ensued. According to Ripon Police, speeds reached 100 mph. The suspect exited the freeway at Hammet Road in Salida and continued on northbound 99, returning to Ripon.
Eventually, the suspect abandoned the car on the lawn of Almond Valley Church, at 333 S. Wilma Ave.
The suspect ran, apparently without any pants -- or as Ripon Police put it "nude from the waist down" -- jumped a fence, and fell off a roof. It was the fall that broke his ankles, he told police later.
Two other police officers joined King in the foot pursuit, tracking Studer to a shed, where he gave up.
He told police he ran from them because he was embarrassed, apparently about his lack of pants.

I guess there were no skidmarks.
Please, no pictures.
I'd say his excuse was bogus except that I would have done the same thing. Now the question is why was he that way to begin with? I'll bet the answer is verrrrry interesting. {g}
Even more embarrassing to have it written up in the paper and posted on the internet, isn't it Christopher M. Studer, 30, of Manteca?
That is news.
Why do I have the feeling that somewhere there is an irate husband or father reading this story and going "Ah-Ha!"
My exact reaction too.
This is supposed to be a true story. - This guy and his wife were pulling their travel trailer behind their car. He was driving, got tired, turned the driving over to her and went and got in the travel trailer. He was in the process of getting undressed to take a nap when his wife took off with a lurch, throwing him against the back door of the trailer and throwing him off on the road - stark naked. - Well, a car load of nice black fellows felt sorry for him and picked him up to follow his wife, who was long gone down the road with the car and trailer. Well, a highway patrolman drove up behind them and saw the naked white guy in the car with a carload of black guys. He thought it looked suspicious, like maybe the guy was possibly going to be tarred and feathered or something. So he pursued. They stopped, explained what had happened; and the officer offered to take him in the patrol car at an accelerated speed with sirens blaring to attempt to find his wife. So, they did.. and they found her stopped at a store. They met her coming out of the store, and she hadn't even known he wasn't in the trailer because she had walked in front of the car instead of behind the trailer getting in the store. So, the man joined her in the car after going in the trailer and putting on some clothes.
Later that evening, they stopped at a nice restaurant for supper. When they finished a nice meal and started to get up to leave, his wife noticed that he had forgotten to zip up when he dressed. "XYZ!" she said. So, he zipped up. Then when they did get up to leave finally, he had gotten the tablecloth caught in his zipper, got up and pulled the whole table of dirty dishes, glasses, everything off in the floor.
Imagine this happened to you. - It is STILL funny!
There are one hundred stories in the naked city.
THIS was one of them.
