Tarantulas, at least the ones around here so I've been told, are harmless, they're just so darn ugly, and big, and fuzzy:) I don't know if it's the flowers that attract them to the garden or just the fact that the flowers provide more cover then the bare patio. Maybe they didn't use to come up here because of the big open space.
I ride alot out in the woods here, and am always worried one will fall out of a tree. Or any bug for that matter. I can deal with snakes and mice better then bugs. Bugs scare me:) I've had stick bugs fall out of trees. So far they have never landed on me, just the horse...but that's bad enough. Stick bugs and praying mantis's are other bugs I think are down right ugly and gross:)

Yeah, I know tarantulas are supposedly harmless, but some things just don't look right and I don't wnat them around. Walking Sticks are a trip. I wonder how often we miss them completely. I took this a cou[le of years ago.

do flowers attact tarantulas The tarantulas are attracted to the bugs that are attracted to the flowers.
We have several tarantula nests in the pasture.
Like to have scared me to death the first time I was walking around back there and nearly stepped on one!
Ugh! :)

I know what you mean about the bugs ,I am the same way,but I find Stick bugs and praying mantis's fascinating. In fact we found a praying mantis a few years back and brought it home and put it in a bug cage thingy. It got out one night and my cat made dinner out of it,all we could find were the legs.LOL.
I love this thread, because we all come up with need suggestions and answers on how to improve our yards.
