Posted on 02/11/2005 7:59:37 PM PST by gimmebackmyconstitution

Is it just me, or do some folks in here drop a thread cold when certain people post to it?

Up to 323 posts on thread snobbery?

Must be kinda quiet on the newswires today. Guess everyone is out buying champagne for Dan Rather's last broadcast tonight. Or Everclear.

A military friend and I mixed Everclear and a couple cans of Welches frozen grape juice concentrate together back in the 1960's. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I still can't stand the smell or taste of Welches grape juice.

I'm afraid to ask how much Everclear you and your friend added to the grape juice!!!

BTW, almost one month for this thread.

It was a couple of pints of medicinal grain alcohol from the infirmary, which may be stronger than Everclear. I was in the Navy and attending a school at Lowery Air Force base in Denver and he was an Air Force medic with weekend duty, so he couldn’t leave the building. My girlfriend shared an apartment just off base with his girlfriend. We all met at an NCO club dance. I brought the two girls on base that evening to visit him. The only thing available for mix was two large cans of frozen Welches grape concentrate in the infirmary freezer. We didn’t add any water to the concentrate. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I've noticed that "certain people" drop the thread before I can get to it.

"It seemed like a good idea at the time".

Well given the time frame, you all could have done just done LSD or some other S**T.

Lord knows I've done some stupid S**T in the past.

However I'm a good boy now and must go to bed before 10:00 PM EST.

When it comes to threads, I used to think I was the kiss of death because shortly after I'd post, the thread would die. So you're not alone there. And by the way, whomever's the last to post on this thread, then he/she is the real thread killer. (Gasp, sure hope it's not me - again.)

332 is a nice even number. Surely you all have a life or something similar. Let's just chalk this one up as a W for BB and choose up sides and go home. There's nothing to see here. Move along. That's right. Don't be an embarrassment. Just forget about this thread. It was all a bad dream. "These aren't the droids you are looking for". "Move along".

Robert, this thread is only 1 month old, it's to young to die.

...I don't have anything against amway....

I got roped into attending an Amway seminar at a good friends house. The Amway guy drove 300 miles in his Cadillac to preach to us unconverted.

He had a good line, but when he crossed his legs I saw a hole in his shoe sole.

Brilliant comments that bring the discussion to a completely different level often end up being thread-stoppers. I've noticed that myself.

....Everclear!!!....

You need to learn about "Handshake" It was a favorite "date drink" of my college house.

You need to get a gallon mayonnaise jar, glass, with the label removed. You need a towel and a lot of finely crushed ice.

I don't remember the exact quantities, but they are not critical.

Put the juice of several oranges and the peeled pulp, several lemons with pulp, a jar of maraschino cherries with some juice, a can of pineapple chunks and some juice and a cup o sugar or two. Fill the jar with the finely crushed ice and a little water. Add a pint of Everclear.

Place the top on the jar and wrap in the towel. shake, shake ,shake shake. When the towel is frozen to the jar, the hand shake is ready.

Pour the girls a glass of this wonderful FRUIT PUNCH (and I mean PUNCH) and wait. All taste of alcohol is gone, masked by the fruit. Two glasses should be the limit (he now says 40 years later).
