It's almost mind-blowing to come to a realization that Islam is possibly (most probably) not a religion. These are the grounds: Even in the multitheistic societies (Greece, Athens, Rome) Gods and their roles were clearly defined within the ethical principles. Example: Aristotel, Plato, Socrates all agree that the main postulates of any religion must have: 1. ELEOS - compassionate love (loving charity, loving mercy) 2. AGAPE (all encompassing type of love for all that surrounds us, good and bad, with no outright rejection and without judgment on our part)
Other than Islam being totally devoid of both above factors it is the only "religion" (more accurately it should be called a sect or a cult) that openly advocates murder (killing of "the infidels"). Can you ever imagine a Jew or a Christian who has graduated to a status of a MARTYR, because he blew himself up in a busy supermarket?
The events of 9-11 got us all to think more about Islam than before. But even aside from that, if you look at the crisis spots all over the world in the last 20 years, you'll invariably find that Islamists were one of the principal combatants (The Phillipines, The Pan AM flight over Lockerbee Scotland, The Lybians, The Chechens, The Bosnian and Kosovo conflicts in former Yugoslavia, the children at Beslan Russia, both Gulf Wars, Afganistan, tension between Pakistan and India, not to mention Israel and Palestine, the conflicts at Darfur, the killing of the Dutch film maker Theo VanGogh for having made a critical documentary about Islam.... the list goes on and on, but I've had enough.

Does this mean the proposal has been withdrawn?
Darn it all. It was so romantic. I guess I'll go vacuum the foyer. :(
Would you source your article properly, please? The link opens on an unrelated article by Trifkovic.
I was being somewhat (but not completely) sarcastic because America, believing in freedom of religion, would never impose something like that. However, my bigger point is that Islam seeks to destroy our way of life and we must be prepared to acknowledge that fact and stop it by whatever means necessary. Muslims have no intention of joining the melting pot of America.
Iliya is derived from an ancient Hebrew prophet, known today as Ilijah (like Elijah Woods the actor or Elia Kazan the director). It has always been a male name as opposed to Ella or ILANA which are female, similar sounding names.
May I be among the first to congratulate you!
sorry, my bad, I just realized it should have been: http://www.chroniclesmagazine.org/News/Trifkovic04/NewsST101904.html
Massachusetts bound, are ya?
All history before the 20th century defines the aggressors as Muslim or "Mahometans". Never ever as "Mesopotamians", or 'Syrian", or "Arabian" or "Lebanese".
Long, long before PC imposed its death grip on political discourse, this was simply a reality, a statement of fact. The religion-imposed killing and looting and the bellicose versions were indistinguishable.
I wish I knew how to repost what you just said. That, exactly is the only treasure we have found in the ashes of the WTC disaster and that thought better be around for our kids and their kids. Not all Americans should pay this price over and over. The idea of "melting pot" does not apply to people whose only goal is to destroy our way of life and impose theirs. Is it any wonder that "America is the prime target on the list of Al-Quaida?", but I had them in my scope too, for some time now.
How about they stay in their beloved deserts. . . based on the evidence at hand, Islam is wholly incompatible with Western Civilization. Actually, I'm being charitable: it barely seems to be compatible with ANY level of civilization much about the goat-herder level. . .
They don't want to stay in their deserts they prefer the streets of Detroit (today's biggest Islamic congregation in the U.S.A. just slightly ahead of NY). Again you are being too charitable they (the Islam) is incopatible with it's own self (Shiites, Sunnis, Baathists, etc.)
The plumbing just wouldn't work.
Oh well. No marriage. But we can still fight Islam together.
Don't you remember the character in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. ? It is a man's name just like Pasha and Sasha and lots of names that may sound feminine to TexMex ears.
I still don't see any textual connection between the link in #26 and the article (or excerpt) at the head of this thread.
I see you removed the source link altogether and the thread has been moved to Vanity, so it's a moot point.
Welcome to FR.

Well, I have to admit I thought he was female as well.
Not to mention, I always cry at weddings, so I was looking forward to it. If only Laz were more able to adapt to new situations.
Sigh.
My second day here, half of the times I only hope I know what I'm doing. I had no intentions of removing anything. I stay by my words if it's the last thing I do.
I originally intended to post this under the "religion" chapter since it disqualifies Islam of being considered a religion - that was my main point. It's nothing but a well organized cult (or sect). But I could not find such a chapter.
My AK-47 of course :-)
That's OK.
The rules are that in most sections you are supposed to post an existing article or an excerpt (some websites complain if the entire article is copied here). Then you provide a link to the article in its original context. If you want to add your own comment, you can do so at the bottom of the original post.
A personal or vanity post is something you wrote yourself. Those belong to a different section of the forum. Of course, a "vanity" may contain references to, or quotes from other material, and it is not required to have a source link. Some forum members serve as "moderators" and they may move articles about or even delete them in whole or in part, as appropriate. Your article appears to have been moved. You originally posted this in News/Activism, if I recall right.
I am familiar with the Chronicles and was surprised that the text that I was reading came from them, so I asked you for a link. I didn't mean to be a nag.
On the subject of the matter, my comment is that Islam, like it or not, is a religion, even if its concept of divine love is distant from Christianity or other religions. If a worldview recognizes God and offers a systemic method of worship, it is a religion.
