Vanity: Islam
February 7, 2005 | Ilija Pavlovich PhD

It's almost mind-blowing to come to a realization that Islam is possibly (most probably) not a religion. These are the grounds: Even in the multitheistic societies (Greece, Athens, Rome) Gods and their roles were clearly defined within the ethical principles. Example: Aristotel, Plato, Socrates all agree that the main postulates of any religion must have: 1. ELEOS - compassionate love (loving charity, loving mercy) 2. AGAPE (all encompassing type of love for all that surrounds us, good and bad, with no outright rejection and without judgment on our part)

Other than Islam being totally devoid of both above factors it is the only "religion" (more accurately it should be called a sect or a cult) that openly advocates murder (killing of "the infidels"). Can you ever imagine a Jew or a Christian who has graduated to a status of a MARTYR, because he blew himself up in a busy supermarket?

The events of 9-11 got us all to think more about Islam than before. But even aside from that, if you look at the crisis spots all over the world in the last 20 years, you'll invariably find that Islamists were one of the principal combatants (The Phillipines, The Pan AM flight over Lockerbee Scotland, The Lybians, The Chechens, The Bosnian and Kosovo conflicts in former Yugoslavia, the children at Beslan Russia, both Gulf Wars, Afganistan, tension between Pakistan and India, not to mention Israel and Palestine, the conflicts at Darfur, the killing of the Dutch film maker Theo VanGogh for having made a critical documentary about Islam.... the list goes on and on, but I've had enough.

I am glad that this is now more visible, but I'm not happy about a price we had to pay to get to the realization that not everybody should be entitled to our hard earned freedoms and liberties. Hopefully the INS will be more strict granting entry to these "fidels" if we are to be called "infidels".

And hopefully we'll place national guard troops on the borders to stop them from entering illegally.

You got my vote. Unfortunately we've all been how to be tolerant and allow others (this and that), that's the advantage of this web-site = it's time to make a radical change and correct the mistakes of being far too liberal especially with those who seek to impinge on any of our values (liberty, freedom, constitution, or in words of Col. Jessep: "Unit, Corps, God, Country"). Too bad we had to go forward in order to realize that we should go back (a little bit, and reverse some of these foolish ideas).

How about they must renounce Islam if they want in, and no mosques are to be built and the ones already built converted to homeless shelters (that should make the libs happy). Islam is the antithesis of everything America is about.

"how about they have to renounce islam?"

WILL NOT WORK. One of the duties of every Muslim (according to the Kuran) is the practice known as Taqyaah (I don't know exactly how to spell it), it means deception and overt lies. The Kuran advocates that Muslims should project an "acceptable image" while they are in the minority, and even announce that they forgo Islam in public, until their numbers are sufficient for imposing the Islamic Laws, where they will be granted special privileges (ever hear of 77 virgins waiting for you in Heaven if you die in the cause of Islam?)

I'll go you one better.
Plato's virtues (Wisdom, Courage, and Temperance; bonded by Justice) are the basically the Cardinal Virtues espoused by the Catholic Church (prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude).

What is Islam's philosophy?
Purpose?
Result?

IMHO, Islam is a nihilistic cult devised by Mohammed to create an army to serve him.

Very good question, the answer is obvious. Muhammad was an assassin and many of his acolytes imitate this cowardliness.

An interesting discussion on this topic can be found on Free Republic. I just don't know where. To summarize, it said that the Qu'ran said there are only two lands: The land of Islam (Dar al Islam), and the land of War (Dar al Harb). Somewhere along the way, some bright cleric realized that they ought to take these things in stages, and created a third land: Dar al Sulh, or the land of treaty. It is when one is in the land of treaty that one is to perform Al-Taqiyah, in order to infiltrate and conquer kafir countries. "Al-Taqiyah, from the verb Ittaqu, means linguistically dodge the threat. Politically it means simulate whatever status you need in order to win the war against the enemy."

and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

AGREED, except that in my own pursuits I turned towards the Stoics (Zeno, Marcus Aurelius, etc) and eventually abandoned Plato first, Aristotel and Socrates second. I didn't want to overstress that Muhammad lived and died as an illiterate shepherd who tailor made Islam to serve his own apetites for sex, power and money. As early as 662, three Jewish tribes perished from Medina at his hands.

"Islam is the antithesis of everything America is about."

True. And that is one of the reasons why in 1892 the New York State Supreme Court essentially outlawed Islam in the U.S.

Islam fits the description of "..The abomination of desolations" found in the book of Daniel.
