What a joke of a list. Doesn't have Eric Lifeson but has Lou Reed.
She's 50 now? Dang, I'm getting old.
(saw Heart on the "Bebe le Strange" tour at the PanAm Center in Las Cruces, NM...Wow! Double WOW!)
Any list that doesn't include Lindsey Buckingham is complete bunk. Anyone who's seen Fleetwood Mac live, and witnessed Lindsey sing 'Big Love' with just his guitar can attest.
Forgot about him...you're absolutely right.
He plays a guitar like a banjo (three finger pick?) and is amazing.
And sings lead vocal while doing some of the most complex playing ever.
Ron Ashton, Syd Barrett, Hendrix, James Williamson, Big Bill Broonzy, Paul Weller, Pedro Ayres Magalhães, Thurston Moore, Ry Cooder, Howlin Wolf
The list was such crap it was worth getting fired up about. Come on, Eddie Van Halen being listed #70. That's like saying Garciaparra is the 70th best-hitting shortstop; it's debatable if he's #1 based on what you think is important (Does Ripken's perfect-attendance ribbon mean he's greatest? Is A-Rod a has-been? Is he even counted as a SS for these purposes?). And maybe there's some roots legend you may think is great (Can you compare Nap Lajoie to Ripken, A-Rod and Nomaaaah?)
But 70?
The Michael Jordan of metal guitarists is #70?
1. Stevie Ray Vaughan
2. Eddie Van Halen
3. Angus Young - AC/DC
4. Adrian Smith - Iron Maiden
5. Robin Trower
6. Eric Clapton
7. Duane Allman - Whipping Post!!!
8. Ted Nugent (Two words - Fred Bear)
9. Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy)
10. Joe Satriani
Others to consider - Ronnie Montrose, George Lynch(Dokken/Lynch Mob), Rich Robinson(Black Crowes), Neil Schon, Carlos Santana, Pat Simmons(Doobie Bros), Peter Frampton(Humble Pie), Allen Collins, Mick Ralphs(Bad Company), Ace Frehley.
Add Billy Gibbons to the list.
Ping!
Yeah !
Leo Kottke, Adrian Legg, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Steve Stills, Richard Gilewitz, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Segovia .....!
Agree...saw Heart play once at a dive called Pat's Northview Lounge in Sault St Marie Michigan right next to the canal locks while I was stationed at Kincheloe AFB .....before either of us were famous of course......:o)
Roy Clark & Andres Segovia.
But the Guitar is soooooo 20th Century.
When these girls start their World Tour there will be a big change in the Muzic Industry.
Point well taken! I am a bit irrational with my love for the Ramones - their first LP changed my life quite literally.
Who is that in the photo with Molly Henneberg from Fox news?
I saw Yngwie in 1987 open up for Iron Maiden. During his solo he threw his guitar 8-10 feet into the air, put a pick between his teeth and then proceeded (after catching it) to play Eddie's 'Eruption' with his mouth. That was awesome!
On the baseball analogy, what is better, a guy who hits .350 with 50 home runs for 5 years or a guy who hits .290 with 25 HRs for 10 years? The latter would be a local hero and loveable, but the former would be way more exciting and get far more pub.
only if YOU'RE the guitar!
