As the son of a retired United States Air Force career man of 38 years, I have to say this site really ROCKS! I get so sick of hearing that everything is Bush's fault.
"I cant find a job and it's all Bush's fault"...."I cant buy a house and it's all Bush's fault"....."It rained for 4 days straight and it's all Bush's fault"
No kidding, I have heard these things....not to mention people running around saying "that $%^&^^% Bush has us in a war that is killing our sons and daughters, and we don't belong there"
They should be grateful that these brave men and women are fighting for their right to even say such things, let alone allow them to live freely in this great country of ours!
Maybe they'd like to try living in a third world country for a while where the people have very little freedom and even less rights.
God Bless this country, the brave souls who fight for our freedom, and everyone smart enough to appreciate what they have given up for us.
I love this country and all who stand for it...Go Bush!

He could've been enlisted reserves. We had a sergeant major in the Guard who retired after over 40 years time in service.

---AFAIK you're only allowed to stay past 30 if you're a General/Admiral...---
my dad had 30+ years of service (retired a capt in the navy), but that included a number of years in the reserve.

As I said....it don't smell right, that's why I asked him...Retirement from the military has some very specific rules ...years of service, age, rank I wanted his reply...if his dad met a criteria I could identify....
Since he didn't answer........

My uncle served 31 (almost 32 years) in the Navy, starting enlisted (I don't know for sure, but definitely E-3 or below) and finishing up as an LDO 0-5. It's not impossible, and I don't know if my uncle had a waiver, but not to my knowledge.
FWIW. :)

And whattayaknow, there's a YoYoDyne at DU.The more I read, the more I believe we have a troll. Too many things have been brought up, i.e. military for 38 years, use of FReepmail, spam site @ screenname, etc. His/her only positives are (1) it can spell, (2) uses English grammar appropriately and (3) it doesn't have any numbers in its screenname. I'm waiting for the VKs.

For a newbie, he sure knows how to work the system. Tagline and all. So I must ask.......
Is it time?

Probably is a troll - at the very least, he's offered no defense.
I'll almost be sorry to lose him - he brought back some great movie memories.

I got an FRmail, too, but it must have been a mistake. he was bitching at me for making a derogatory comment about him; all I did was ask how he found FR.
I told him he would probably need thicker skin. at that point in the thread, we weren't sure he would possibly need zot-repellent.
