At least blackberries offer some compensation in the form of cobbler, jam and pie. Kudzu promises only itching.
"You know, I've been studying this global warming stuff, got it down enough to converse intelligently, know the data........Is it me, or does a one and a half to two degree variation over a century show a sign of remarkable stability?"
He made it funny with his dead pan smirk.......
My reference to "kitchen table science" was to refer to kooks who work out of their kitchen writing a book that convinces the media that it is true scientific evidence.
Add Rachel Carson to the list, too, with DDT. And let us never forget the kitchen studies of the EPA that led us to believe that second hand smoke was harmful, even though medical scientific studies debunked it.
ROFL!! I know, the perpetual "water shortage routine"!! Actually, in our area the snow pack has not been normal for several years now. We thought a few weeks ago when it was just coming down that this would be good for the water situation. Didn't last!! It's really corny weather.
Greetings from the Pacific Northwest....its lovely weather here today, and was lovely yesterday as well...been quite sunny these last few days, and even feels slightly warmish...I can see the green stalks of the daffodils beginning to push through the soil...when I went to the store yesterday, it was filled with primroses, daffodils, crocus, tulips, and all the springy flowers...spring is on its way....thank goodness...
Val...I went to the Safeway store over on Yelm Hwy, and from their parking lot, one gets a perfect view of Mt. Rainier, if the sky is clear....and luck was with me...as I was loading up the trunk, I looked up, and there stood Rainier, all white and shiny, and looking quite proud to be 'out', not enshrouded by the usual cloud cover...We hope to get up Rainier, for Mothers Day...for the past 20 yrs or so, that is how we always spend Mothers Day...up at Rainier for the Day....but this year we hope to get up there and spend the whole Mothers Day weekend there, with the RV, camping out at Sunshine Point, along the Nisqually River...I really enjoy going up to Rainier so early in the year, as there is still so much snow on the ground, and if one if lucky, as we have been in the past, a brief snowstorm will come up, and give a lite dusting, and then go away...Are you homesick yet?
I have not heard from Andy again, not since last week...so I just assume he is well, and having a good time on his Cuban vacation...he said, if he can find a net cafe, he will email me again, but he does not have high hopes for that...says that Castro and the damned govt there, dont want the people to have computers, and be able to access the outside world...and what computers there are, are really regulated and probably surveilled...it will be interesting to talk to him when he returns, and see how he was treated in Cuba, and what his impressions were...
.....Westy.....
This is unacceptable. As a taxpaying citizen, you have an obligation to support me forever during the platinum years of my glorious life.
Nope, I ain't gonna do it. LOL
I know all about those blackberries...our backyard was almost overtaken by them these past two years...our landscaping guys came in with some big old machine and dug all those nasty vines out...now with spring on its way, I am anxious to see how much is going to try to grow back...they are, really, as you say, hard to get rid of...
We have green grass too!! And we are more North yet!!!!!
Yes, indeed we do have green grass in the winter...I am looking out at my front lawn now, and its a nice green lawn...in fact, last weekend, two of my neighbors across the street were already out with their lawnmowers, mowing their lawns...
I know a younger sugar..... worker that is considering taking over..........
By the time I'm retired they'll each be supporting two of us.......
Oh boy, we have pigeons too. They are the dirtiest, messiest creatures to ever haunt a city park. I never go to City park anymore. You'd have to throw your shoe away.
I think most Americans have caught on to the sham. I suspect that when the bills start rolling in the Europeans may have second thoughts about support for Kyoto.
Sharkey tried to blackmail me for catpuppy's new car and so far has failed. Then he moved on to another new person, nicmarlo, hmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Pattern?
What if I just declare bankruptcy now and then YOU have to support me? Or, maybe I'll just sneak back across the border so I can get even better benefits. Bah.
We have pigeons that have been roosting on the roof and other structures of the house. Hubby has put barriers wherever possible, but they manage to find other places to roost. I posted quite a bit about it either yesterday or the day before. I received some useful suggestions for dealing with the little darlings...now I'm just waiting a bit to see how it all works out. :)
.....Westy....
Be nice to her, she'll be supporting us both in the manner we have been accustomed to..........
But of course!
