Newbie/Former DUer (Yeah, whatever, goodbye to you and your friends, ZOT!)
Me, Myself, and I
Posted on 01/18/2005 4:34:44 PM PST by SeanQuinn
Hi, my name is Sean Quinn. My original political philosophy was that of a moderate, then I creeped liberal, then joined DU. I had my fun there and became a donor (which I think's about to expire). I got a membership at FR, ORIGINALLY to just troll and to read as most DU folk do. After some serious post-election thinking and re-evaluating of my philosophy (a good issue for this is social security) I stopped going to DU. I started listening to 580 WDBO here in Orlando which advertises itself as "the conservative radio station". Thank the Lord, we don't get Air America here, so it's basically one of the few choices in talk radio. I heard Boortz (whom I love for his open-source talks as well as his political philosophy, yaay for linux) and then Hannity. The gentlemen I put down as a "rightie conservative" before now started to make some serious sense.
So, I say, HI. Though I have an account at DU of the same name, I won't be going back there. I'm pretty sure that I've found a home for me here at FR.
If you have any questions, comments, etc. please contact me on AIM at QuinnieDaPooh921 or of course, as always, post them below.
I'm a bit of a neocon, in the extent of taking it literally. I am a new conservative. I hope to once be known as a paleocon.
What I'd like to know is where to find a good guide or some hints for a newbie like myself. Is there a guide? What's Smoky Backroom and GOP Club for? Stuff like that. Thank you dearly.

Thanks for the ping...I will read the thread and watch. There are some hopeful posts over at the DUmmie Dungeon that might be TROLLS seeing the light. i will hold judgment and wait before I bring on DJ-Viking Kitty to provide the bohemian soundtrack to another ZOT session.

That's the beauty of this place. You can contribute on any level you wish, just so long as you're not trolling.
It's nice to be able to get the news you want consolidated into one website, without having to use CNN as a filter.
And by the way, welcome!

Photos aren't necessary. I posted mine here and received a bill from thousands of angry Freepers for damaged monitors.
For now, you have the benefit of the doubt from me, and I welcome you. You should understand, though, that your tale is rather unusual and since we're quite used to being invaded by the "dark forces" around here, you're going to be viewed skeptically at first.

Oh, that is GREAT! May I steal it? Please?

OK - can you still post a link to the last thread you posted on there? I'd like to get a feel for what kind of poster you were over there, and I can't search it. If you won't, perhaps you'll answer these:
Do you believe in LIHOP or MIHOP? Did you ever?
Do you hope we win in Iraq? Do you support the troops, and the Bush Administration's efforts to win in Iraq?

Thanks, I've been lurking here for a loooooong time and love it. I do all the voting and signing of the petitions and all but I've been apprehensive to post. I'm feeling more comfortable by the minute.

Completely understood. Hey, I'd do the same if I was an established member of FR and someone posted like myself, a neocon who had seen the light.

>>Um, it was a weird situation. I happened to be talking to the mods there and somehow I got a "honorary donation" so I got all the perks of donating without a dollar out of my pocket<<
Okay....please tell me what an honorary donation is.....

Welcome to FR.
I hope you're on the level, SQ, because it would be nice :) My 16 yr old is a FReeper, and he's been posting on message boards for at least a couple of years (Stick Figure Death Theater, various games, etc), so I find it entirely believable a 13 yr old can be articulate and be very interested in politics. Not to boast, but I was certainly articulate at 13...I was however, well on my way to becoming an avowed socialist at the time...
And, this is some early Paleocon art:
