Hi, my name is Sean Quinn. My original political philosophy was that of a moderate, then I creeped liberal, then joined DU. I had my fun there and became a donor (which I think's about to expire). I got a membership at FR, ORIGINALLY to just troll and to read as most DU folk do. After some serious post-election thinking and re-evaluating of my philosophy (a good issue for this is social security) I stopped going to DU. I started listening to 580 WDBO here in Orlando which advertises itself as "the conservative radio station". Thank the Lord, we don't get Air America here, so it's basically one of the few choices in talk radio. I heard Boortz (whom I love for his open-source talks as well as his political philosophy, yaay for linux) and then Hannity. The gentlemen I put down as a "rightie conservative" before now started to make some serious sense.
So, I say, HI. Though I have an account at DU of the same name, I won't be going back there. I'm pretty sure that I've found a home for me here at FR.
If you have any questions, comments, etc. please contact me on AIM at QuinnieDaPooh921 or of course, as always, post them below.
I'm a bit of a neocon, in the extent of taking it literally. I am a new conservative. I hope to once be known as a paleocon.
What I'd like to know is where to find a good guide or some hints for a newbie like myself. Is there a guide? What's Smoky Backroom and GOP Club for? Stuff like that. Thank you dearly.

Here's something worth the read:
You're either extraordinary for your age, or you're some old fart sitting in his boxers eating Cheetos and trying to screw with this forum.
I hope it's the former.
From a newbie to another newbie, Welcome, and I too have observed a certain amount of hostility towards newbies, that explains my lack of introduction.
Welcome to FR. I joined up here when I was 16, and I think you'll find that, so long as you keep your conversation and comments at an intellectual level, you'll be treated as...well...an intellectual. :)
We're really a pretty accepting group of people. You'll definitely find that the liberal stereotypes of us evil conservatives are, in actuality, quite false.
To be quite honest, I don't want to do a "curtain call" or a closing bell. It's just kind of one of those things where I'd go Been there, done that. and be away from it forever. FR's already replaced it in my bookmarks.
Cleared my history, cache, cookies so that I'd forget my password [already did at DU..oops. :D] and replaced DU's space in my bookmarks with FR's.
Need me to post a picture? I'm the former, but I do enjoy Cheetos. :D
during the OJ trial, I spent some time on-line watching people chatting with a guy who "swore" he was the lead cop on the detective team...and he was giving them little tid-bits of "unknown evidence"....
Dylan and Mann did a song: "The Mighty Quinn" in which I was known by in my days in the church choir.
Jen, I am a noob too, and had the same concern. I posted very gingerly at first, but now everyone probably just wishes I would stop posting. I haven't been flamed yet. It's not how new you are, but how you interact with others. Those who have been here a long time have no patience with those who simply seek to disrupt the forum, and there are plenty of those. Two to four a day here lately. Welcome to FR. Lurk, Learn, and Enjoy.
With the intensity of the campaigning during the last two elections, we've had a gradually increasing stream of trolls. ZOTs are just our way of amusing ourselves by ridiculing the drivel of these insane leftists into oblivion -- but there are certainly those among us who tend to get a little overzealous and perhaps unfairly accuse a newbie.
But then, that happens on most forums.
I didn't bother to introduce myself when I joined up back in 2000 for the very same reason -- I didn't want to be labelled as a troll right off the bat. Just jump right in, make relevant and thoughtful comments, and eventually get around to posting threads once you get a feel for how this site works. You'll surely find it rewarding.
And again, welcome to FR!
"Um, it was a weird situation. I happened to be talking to the mods there and somehow I got a "honorary donation" so I got all the perks of donating without a dollar out of my pocket.
Sounds real nice, Sean. You're very articulate for a 13 year old "child". You seem to know a lot about history and politics judging by your comments. If you are for real.....welcome. If not, beware. ;-)
Fascinating. I have a DU membership for trolling too. I love messing with their little minds.

D@mn!...
"Hey daddy liberal, can I see your debit card for a sec? It's for the children!"
Thats the same one by Dylan. My typo; O hit t instead of n at the end there.
Thank you. Well, what can I say? My history teacher's a good one and I watch a lot of documentaries, read a lot, and that whole shebang.
ACK!
"O" should be "I"
