The Neverending Story
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. |
After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Books/Literature; Chit/Chat; Computers/Internet; Education; Food; Gardening; History; Hobbies; Humor; Miscellaneous; Music/Entertainment; Pets/Animals; Religion; Society; Sports; TV/Movies; Weather

The horses were out back when it went, it sounded like a bomb went off.
You sure you didn't fart? :)

Still around, just lurking. Put the damned thing up with nails this time.
Did you have an exceptional wind, tornado, or the like?

I had barbed barn nails in the thing!
We had about a 65 - 70 mph wind come in from the south and went into the front opening of the barn, tore off the 2 end stalls first and then about 30 mins later it caught the roof of the other 4 stalls and off they went.

Here's some pictures. This is the roof off of the first 3 stalls

This iswhat was left of those 3 stalls. There were 2 more to the left of the one tore up.

Then aboaut 20 minutes later the roof off the rest was blown off into the woods.

This is what was left, and it was leaning real bad to the back.

Wow! It looks like the roof became a big sail.

so who's gonna put the roof back on. You or Becky?
To: OLD REGGIE
That's exactly what it looked like. I happened to be out side when the second part of the roof came off and it was pretty cool to see. I heard the gust coming from over at the neighbors and watched it move thru the trees and across the arena, then hit the barn. The roof just peeled off and sailed thru the air. It cleared some trees before falling down between some.
I was lucky that my horses were out back when it came apart.

Yeah I gues you're right:). I had gone out to check the horses again, that's how I happen to be outside when the second part of the roof went.

I had gone out to check the horses again, that's how I happen to be outside when the second part of the roof went. That's understandable but it was also dangerous. I don't remember if it was on FNC or on the wheather channel but they were talking about Colorado having 100 mph winds. Hope II was anchored down! :)

So this site is still alive, huh?

Hi Reggie, it's good to see you can still type. :-)
Your still the older geezer--all though I'm catching up.
Are you getting hit by the bad weather yet? It's only in the 60's here in Paradise.

Well - yes, it is cold. Went down to 18 last night and was in the low 30's all day.
You know what? We have heaters in our houses and automobiles.
Actually, I couldn't stand it if we didn't have heaters. It kinda makes me think how it is in "Paradise" - AKA "Preview To Hell" without air conditioners.
BTW, I think you are older than I am.

I believe we all are. :) It seems though that the "Neverending" has become the "rarely". Blame Malakhi.

Wow! You've come a long way since we last talked. L0l

I read a couple of weeks ago that the equivalent of the population of Pennsylvania moves down here every year. I guess Pa doesn't have heaters in their cars like you New Englanders. {{{{grin}}}}
BTW, I think you are older than I am.
I turned 69 last Sep. If I remember correctly, you're a couple of years older.
