The Neverending Story

The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

Between the author's impeccable academic credentials, and the objective nature of the article's source, who am I to disagree? ;o)

I wouldn't go to a shelter around her. No smoking, no pets, no guns.

I can see the ban on pets and guns. But clustering people together during an extreme stress situation and not allowing them to smoke is just insane. (I don't mean everywhere, but there should be an area for it.)

There's a lot of money to be made telling people what they want to hear. ;o)

On a different subject, do you know whatever happened to Cordell Stewart? Is he still in the league?

Kordell got hired as a backup by the Ravens after their QB got hurt in the first game. The Ravens are bad. The Bengals are good. We have enough difficulty beating them when they suck, should be interesting.

All of a sudden the Colts can't score. What's up with that?

The Chargers have to play New England this week, and then host the Steelers fresh off our loss to NE and our bye week. On Monday night. I'm sure they are enjoying that little present from the schedule-makers.

I guess we won't have to worry about Louisville going undefeated this year.

If this Friday's Pitt-Rutgers game on ESPN isn't an encouragement to go out to watch a high school game, I don't know what is.

The Packers are 0-3, with the easiest stretch of their schedule behind them. The last time they started 0-3, they finished 4-12. There are already whispers circulating around the league that Sherman will be done after this year, and that Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress is a likely candidate for head coach. If the team decides to go into full rebuilding mode, I don't know that Favre will return for another year. And considering his salary, and the way he has been playing, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

On a positive note, the Badgers are a big surprise at 4-0. Their running game has been phenomenal, and Stocko at quarterback has been just good enough, and has avoided mistakes. The Brewers are over .500 for the first time since late May. If they exceed the .500 mark this season, it will be the first time since 1992. A big step for this franchise. New ownership, and lots of young talent brought up this season, and still in the farm system. Things are looking up for the Brewers!

It would seem to be time for Mr. Favre to get on with his life's work. Maybe he can make some more movies with Ben Stiller. I could see that. Or maybe going to live in a house with Gary Coleman and Anna Nicole Smith.

No kidding, my new goal is to be a truly free man, your only free if you own nothing (or very little), I'm selling everything I own, cashing out and owning only my home, Harley, RV, if I can't eat it, smoke it, chew it, drink it I ain't buying it. I don't want anything you have to do something to or with. I'm just gonna work a couple of days a week and then go home and grin. :)

I hope you left "wear it" out of that list as an oversight, and not as a new "lifestyle." ;-)
