After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

He was an experienced rider, and was participating in a Civil War reenactment.

Sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Sounds like he had some interesting hobbies.
The archaeologist whose website I did was into historical re-enactments, Rendezvous and Mountainmen stype stuff, too.
Thanks ET.
How did you fare during Rita?
Did you have to do any weather spotting over the weekend?
Yeah, no kidding. I'll trade this one for a win in a month that doesn't end in "r."

No, we had some garden-variety thunderstorms roll through yesterday, but nothing severe. Lots of rain, and a few rumbles.
We were ready but she turned. Not even a shower:') It sure wears you down though. This is the second time this summer we have went into diaster mode.
This could be a tough year for the Patriots. They are losing some key players.
Did you know the officials made a mistake with the clock and gave the Patriots an extra 52 seconds?
Oh well, that makes up for the phantom interference call against Chad Scott which resulted in the tie. :-)
Yep, heard it this morning. Too late to do anything about it now.

You might need new glasses. Scott shoved our receiver out of the way.

On a different topic, I've earned my red belt! About another two months to go for brown. The school started a Tuesday-Thursday lunch hour class for adults, so I've been going to that, as well as a few evening classes a week. Today our instructor was in a meeting, so I ended up teaching the class. Very fun! :o) They do black belt testing twice a year, so I will most likely be testing for 1st degree black belt next September (don't think I'll have enough class time in to test in March). I plan eventually to get my instructor certification.
Howdy Mack, see above. When I get my black belt, I'm gonna come down there and take you deep into the woods where no one can hear you scream. ;o)
Lot's of what ifs . I wouldn't go to a shelter around here. No smoking, no pets, no guns. Sometimes you are safer where you are . Sometimes not.

Sorry guys. I post and it doesn't show up.
