~The Dragon Flies' Lair~XVII~
January 9, 2005 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

Posted on 01/09/2005 4:58:38 AM PST by Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

FUZZY SPIDER.....The trap door spider is a hider, who's in and out all day; Long enough to catch his prey; then slams his door to say; I'm' full and safe so here will I lay; until I'm' hungry for more prey. He's so smart this fuzzy spider.

Good morning, Lair! I hope everyone's off to a great start today!

Phillis II
Thomas Lodge

Love guards the roses of thy lips
And flies about them like a bee;
If I approach he forward skips,
And if I kiss he stingeth me.

Love in thine eyes doth build his bower,
And sleeps within their pretty shine;
And if I look the boy will lower,
And from their orbs shoot shafts divine.

Love works thy heart within his fire,
And in my tears doth firm the same;
And if I tempt it will retire,
And of my plaints doth make a game.

Love, let me cull her choicest lowers;
And pity me, and calm her eye;
Make soft her heart, dissolve her lowers
Then will I praise thy deity.

But if thou do not, Love, I'll truly serve her
In spite of thee, and by firm faith deserve her.

GEORGIA

The Chattahoochee writhes remembering
Caressing the western hip of Georgia
Memories silently float inside her
Like secrets that must be drowned
What gold lies in waiting that
Hides asleep in the Blue Ridge
What fortune has been awakened
By a steadfast prospector's pick
Still the echoes of soldiers marching
And Native Americans driven out
Are a thousand voices and heartbeats
And souls crying in the wind of who we are
And the dead lie in their pride and dust
Wild-eyed southern men who love her
The past still breathes in the names carried on
And remembered in our children who will reminisce
Georgia has seduced many modern soldiers, but
Not without taking their loyalty and fidelity as her own
Her practiced southern smile has turned many to her
And those that sought to destroy her would only be back
Uninhibited she lies in the bosom of Dixie cradling her
Heritage, her people, her place in history. For she is determined
To rise into the new Millennium from the ashes of
Yesterday's war. The slaves have long been freed, and the
Confederacy never to secede. But in this land of cotton
And buildings that rival the sky, she knows she will survive.
And maybe the rivers will tell each other the secrets
That history won't reveal. In time we will realize that it's
The Georgia inside us that will endure for all time.

Feeling tip top Colonel, thank you. All in spite of a sleepless in NY night. Don't know what got into me.

So good to see you in the Lair. I know you have been very busy at work.

Poetic Justice

You media pansies may squeal and may squirm,
But a fighting man knows that the way to confirm.
That some jihadist bastard is truly dead,
Is a brain-tappin' round fired into his head.

To hell with some wienie with his journalist degree,
Safe away from the combat, tryin' to tell me
I should check him for breathing, examine his eyes,
Nope, I'm punchin' his ticket to Muj paradise.

To hell with you wimps from your Ivy League schools,
Sittin' far from the war tellin' me about rules.
And preaching to me your wrong-headed contention,
That I should observe the Geneva Convention.

Which doesn't apply to a terrorist scum,
so evil and cruel their own people run from.
Cold-blooded killers who love to behead,
Shove that mother' Geneva, I'm leaving em dead.

You slick talkingheads may preach, preen and prattle,
But you're damn well not here in the thick of the battle.
It's chaotic, confusing, It all comes at you fast,
So it's Muj checking out, because I'm going to last.

Yeah, I'll last through this fight and send his ass away,
To his fat ugly virgins while I'm still in play.
If you journalist wienies think that's cold, cruel and crass,
Then pucker up sweeties. Kiss a fighting man's ass

The Flying Unicorn

Above, in the clouds.
His proud head held high.
His magnificent horn, a lance of pearl and ice.
His tail, a bushy plume of rainbows.
Broad wings climbing the sky.
Cascades of sparks from his hooves.
The Unicorn, as free as the north wind.

Bein' A Cowboy"
A storm came up tht night, Threw a tree across the fence. Those Bremmer cows took a look And walked right out again. So I saddled up and called the dogs So I could get 'em in. It ain't fun bein' a cowboy, But its all I've ever been. It ain't fun bein' a cowboy, But it's all I've ever been. Hangin' gates and mendin' fence And mendin' bones to start again. But then again there's mornins' When you wake up on the right side of the fence. It ain't fun bein' a cowboy, But then again, sometimes it is. Like when springtime brings the baby calves, And the buds are on the trees; And the warmin' earth prepares itself To let the seeds break free. When clothes ahangin' on the line Smells like rays of sun to me When those days come it brings to mind, A cowboys all I want to be.

Hiya feather. We are tired! Our bodies are on west coast time. Meetings are hard to sit through and stay awake. Starting tomorrow we get to window shop the trade show so that should keep us awake.
