~The Dragon Flies' Lair~XVII~
January 9, 2005 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Beer

Here,
With my beer
I sit
While golden moments flit:
Alas!
They pass
Unheeded by:
And, as they fly,
I,
Being dry,
Sit, idly sipping here
My beer

O, finer far
Than fame, or riches, are
The graceful smoke-wreaths of this free cigar!
Why
Should I
Weep, wail, or sigh?
What if luck has passed me by?
What if my hopes are dead,-
My pleasures fled?
Have I not still
My fill
Of right good cheer,-
Cigars and beer?

Go, whining youth,
Forsooth!
Go, weep and wail,
Sigh and grow pale,
Weave melancholy rhymes
On the old times,
Whose joys like shadowy ghosts appear,-
But leave to me my beer!
Gold is dross,-
Love is loss,-

So, if I gulp my sorrows down,
Or see them drown
In foamy draughts of old nut-brown,
Then do I wear the crown,
Without the cross!

George Arnold

My Grandmother; The bat and the broom. Nana came home one night and saw a frighting sight there in the fire place he sat, a relay ugly bat. She was so mad she could fume, and so Nana garbed her broom. The battle raged on from room to room, but he never escaped the swat of her broom. Battered and beaten he lay on the floor Nana then flushed him and shut the door.

radu!

What a beauty of a car you have!

Did you really go to a Drive-in movie!! ?

I must live in a closet ;) I didn`t know they existed still. None where I live anyway!

I want to go on a search now and try to locate all the remaining the drive-in`s across America. I thought they went the way of the dinosaur ages ago!

What movie did you see?

Good Morning Helga :)

It looks like you and Samw put in a lonnnng night!

~ Sleepless ~

You were busy writing and making pictures. It is like a busy house here today, from Bats to Beer! :)

It has prompted me to get some Jumbo size Shrimp and cook today!

I am trying a new recipe:

"Beer ~ Batter"

2 Bottles Beer
2 C. Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Paprika

There is a marinade first;

1/3 C. Worcestershire sause
1 C. Lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

20 to 36 Med or Jumbo size Shrimp, peeled and deveined and rinsed. Marinade for 30 minutes.

Dust lightly with Flour
Dip into Batter
Deep Fry in 365* for 7 minutes or until Golden brown.

I`m going to try and post a site here, of another Batter that is Excellent!

LunaRed,

It might interest you to know that I awoke this morning with an old song playing in my mind. I knew it well, from years ago, the melody never left me.

It is titled;

"Sweet Sweet Spirit"

There is a Scriptural Reference next to it that will bring you smiles today.

"My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely." ~ Song of Soloman 2:14

You have a Sweet Sweet Spirit LunaRed *

Hello.

I passed your compliment on to my hubby....he's the reason the car's a beauty. Three years of toil and sweat made Baby a car to be thrilled with.....and I am! LOL!

We went to Sonic, a drive-in eatery. Every now and then, Hubby gets in the mood for one of their big burgers. Since the weather was nice, I suggested taking Baby because a drive-in seems a perfect place to go in a classic. :-)

We do have a drive-in theater less than 5 miles away. Brand new with 3 screens! We haven't been yet but plan to go when they show something we want to see.

Drive-ins are making a comeback. Old ones are being refurbished and new ones are springing up. A writer for a car magazine we subscribe to is travelling around the country to different drive-ins and writing a series of articles about them. A cool nostalgia trip.
