~The Dragon Flies' Lair~XVII~
January 9, 2005 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Morning Sam.

A good run would probably suit me well right about now!

Good tunes this morning, thanks.

Snowing here today. Salt trucks are out and graders are running, whatever for I don't know. Nothing on the streets.

LOL Our tax dollars being wasted.

Have a good day and brisk sales to the Wild Bird Center.

I saw the leaves today;they danced commanded by the wind. They whirled and twirled and jumped, sometimes end on end. As if to say, "Look at me.I'm still here, now not suspended on a tree." I heard the leaves today; early morn on a walk Through the stillness of the woods, no words, no talk. But still conveyed to me as they crushed beneath my feet, still rich though fallen in defeat. I heard the leaves today, caught in a summer storm. I hid beneath the canopy, the elements of wind and fire, trapped by fury and sanctuary borrowed. From changing leaves to fall defeated Victorious tomorrow. I saw the naked trees today, starkness painted on the sky. Who made the brushstrokes made of clouds, and how and why did they arrive to be this masterpiece? Ah,yes. The hand of God I think. I saw the swollen bud today, as March did march, and now away And it declared that it would grow-unfurled its leaf and there to stay. For gentle spring and summers heat and feed the birds and beasts Until the autumn call them home-glorious in defeat. I smelled the leaves of yesterday upon the forest floor they lay. What once was green, then amber red made alive in decay To give the sprouting seed a taste Of what once was its resting place.

You are navy blue and polished sliver.
Horses prancing.
Evening forest, jade leaves dancing.
You are midnight rose's fragrance pleasing.
Amber moon and and dawning breezes.
I am dreaming ever sending;
you are with me never ending.

**sigh**

Go Where Glory Waits Thee
Air  Maid of the Valley

Go where glory waits thee,
But while fame elates thee,
Oh! still remember me.
When the praise thou meetest
To thine ear is sweetest,
Oh! then remember me.
Other arms may press thee,
Dearer friends caress thee,
All the joys that bless thee,
Sweeter far may be;
But when friends are nearest,
And when joys are dearest,
Oh! then remember me!

When, at eve, thou rovest
By the star thou lovest,
Oh! then remember me.
 Think, when home returning,
Bright we've seen it burning,
Oh! thus remember me.
Oft as summer closes,
When thine eye reposes
On its lingering roses,
Once so loved by thee,
Think of her who wove them,
Her who made thee love them,
Oh! then remember me.

When, around thee dying,
Autumn leaves are lying,
Oh! then remember me.
And, at night, when gazing
On the gay hearth blazing,
Oh! still remember me.
Then should music, stealing
All the soul of feeling,
To thy heart appealing,
Draw one tear from thee;
Then let memory bring thee
Strains I used to sing thee,
— Oh! then remember me.

Sir Thomas Moore

I know, I've been remiss here, in the Canteen, the Foxhole, and elsewhere.

Yeah - can we beat you over the head with poetry for that offense?? LOL!

I've been missing the Lair myself. I'm trying to get back into a routine here, but it ain't always easy!

LOL!

I haven't had any poetry pop into my head lately.
But an odd dream about a music box did.

Dunno if anyone will get any inspiration from this, but it's worth relating to see what happens.

There was a musicbox, wooden, ornate, had scrollwork and inlays on it.
Old and delicate in appearance.
It had a rather haunting tune to it, as it didn't sound like your typical muscibox, And in teh dream it was passed from person to person.
Some cherished it, others hated it.
Some were blessed by it's presence, while others were cursed.
It finally came into the possession of a little girl, and she cherished it as a prized treasure, and somehow in the dream it protected her.
*shrugs*

I know, weird.

Good evening Dave. I love the Aurora Borealis so much. I have not seen them in years now. But I remember one Summer in the 60s when there was a grand display here.
