Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
American men hate those tights. I was watching show jumping one day and the camera angle was looking down at the rider as he was just going over a jump. He was wearing very tight white britches that left little to the imagination. I noticed after that guy, they never had that camera angle again.
It isn't that way in Walking and Racking horse shows. Those are decidedly male-dominated. I don't think I've EVER seen a woman win a WGC or even any of the other upper classes. It's mostly the good-ol-boy network of professional trainers who do any good at that level. Sad but true.
Dang, I'm learning all kinds of new words and sayings today. "Poofy" and "light in his loafers." I'll be giggling all afternoon.
ROFLMAO!! Poofy! I love that!
LOL
That might apply to local levels but when you get to the world shows, etc in AQHA, ApHC and others, most of the big name trainers and show people are men. Big bucks in it. Lot of people buy a horse, turn it over to a trainer and do nothing but bask is the recognition of being the owner :)
AAAAAKKKKKKK!! {gag}
Well, that's interesting... Is it because it's Southern? "We don't tolerate none of them ~poofters~ 'round here!"
There's a lot of men in Arab shows... they're still often gay... with the exception of Patrick Swayzee (I think)
Fourth Bruce: Are you a Poofter?
Michael: No!
Fourth Bruce: No. Right, I just want to remind you of the faculty rules: Rule One!
Everybruce: No Poofters!
Fourth Bruce: Rule Two, no member of the faculty is to maltreat the Abbos in any way at all -- if there's anybody watching. Rule Three?
Everybruce: No Poofters!!
Fourth Bruce: Rule Four, now this term, I don't want to catch anybody not drinking. Rule Five,
Everybruce: No Poofters!
Fourth Bruce: Rule Six, there is NO ... Rule Six. Rule Seven,
Everybruce: No Poofters!!
Fourth Bruce: Right, that concludes the readin' of the rules, Bruce.
They're breeches, not tights ;~D.. but yeah... men should wear some pretty tight spandex under 'em. Heck... ~I~ wear so much lycra under them I can't breath, but I hopefully don't jiggle.
Might be! They'd probably get their A$$ kicked out behind the barn. They might "be" Poofy, but they'd better not "look" or act Poofy.
No really, I think it's like Duchess said, there's LOTS of money in it and we all know that men are gonna be where the money is.
Poofy:)....LOL
Becky
A lot of the western trainers are married - most of the time to women trainers. I'd bet money the women do a lot of the training that the men are paid for too, but it's hard to get horse people to trust a woman trainer.
I just re-read my last post. Please note that I said they'd get their A$$ KICKED, with a "K", out behind the barn! ;o)
That's what's funny and sad around here. We've got this group of poofies:) that show up at all the jackpots, and make no attempt, in fact, I think they like advertising the fact. It's funny, but it also makes a regular guy suspect to those that don't know them.
Becky
Texas, where men are men and sheep are scared.
LOL!!!
We heard you right!
