Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

But it's not our fault that it's fun to poke a bit fun of you about it ;~D

Oh yeah, we have some tall ones in the back yard, but we had taken down the ones that were closest to the house in preparation for the remodel. The ones that are remaining are pretty sturdy. We get pretty good winds all the time because we're at one of the higher points in the town, so when the winds pick up, it's really strong! SSQ is going to construct the addition using hurricane straps for that reason.
The winds have died down for the most part, and the sun has come out, so it looks like, "Hallelujah! The Great Storm is Over". ;o)

It is your fault... now, if I hadn't read "Pride and Prejudice" or "Jane Eyre", that might be something to tease me about. I was at the bookstore with a friend last night and she admitted she hadn't read either, can you imagine?

Oddly, Rosie may not have gotten as much snow as we did. I think the brunt of the storm was over the Cape and the Islands before it moved out to sea. She probably got several inches of snow, though.

What a GORGEOUS dress!!! I've always wanted to go to an event where I could wear red velvet! Forget those dull black dresses! Blech!
You and Big Ol make a handsome couple!

He was one of my favorites. Funny, without ever being mean, nasty or condescending.

I just heard a great quote about Johnny Carson...
If you had to build a couch to seat every one of the 22,000 guests that were ever on with Johnny, the couch would be over eight miles long.

You'd have to get someone to paint a mural.

Aw shucks. Thanks!
Happy no school tomorrow. I fully expected the neighborhood kids to be out sledding today. But they're wusses (they have prudent parents) and couldn't take the windchill.
The wind has blown some patches nearly bare! We got 8" so that's a large volume of snow that has been placed elsewhere. One patch is right smack in the middle of the sledding hill. So no sledding tomorrow. :(
The dogs aren't amused by the snow. Sadie thinks the cold white stuff must surely be Jack's fault. So she grouches at him. Jack doesn't have enough sense to lift a leg and thus raise his whoozits up out of the snow. He gets annoyed and tries to make the snow 'quit it' by trying to bite it. They're comic to watch.
