The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh no... I feel so bad for her. and all of you.

My dad was SO miserable with that, Dona less so when she got it. I hope Nana's is more mild than bad.

It's the same virus and no he hasn't. But I'm pretty sure he's had the vaccine.

Dr. said she was fortunate because they caught it early. And they do have drugs to treat it now. She's mainly felt weak and dizzy so far.

...Tolkien made it a lot less bleak than the original story.

Than the original historical events?

No, ha. "Silmarillion" is very heavily influenced by the Finnish epic poem, "Kalevala", and "Turin Turambar" is a lightened version on one of the Kalevala stories. With some Elves added.

whether he's confused, vaguely supportive or just responding to the excitement, we can't tell. But it is FUNNY.

I guess he figures something must be up if Gidget's barking.

Yep. It's certainly never dull around here.

But I do think they caught it early. And good grief the medicine better work. It's an anti-viral medicine. Two prescriptions. $400.

It's Nana's money, but...Ouch!

I wish the movie had given more time to Faramir and Eyowen. I thought their story was interesting... talk about rebounding!

If you like those two then you HAVE to read the books. There's lots more about both of them in "The Two Towers" and "Return of the King".
