Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

FREEDOM!
But wait...wouldn't he technically be on your side?
To: Corin Stormhands
Technically that was before the Reformation and all that jazz... but yup, I get to claim Scottish spiritual (as well as some physical) heritage.
Of course, you're the one descended from Hugeunots, right? See what happens to a country when they kick out all the Calvinists?
:-p

I've got a line of the Scots-Irish myself...
To: Corin Stormhands
We're mostly Brit, but have some Scottish. And Irish, though we don't care too much... if I ever were to wear a tartan, I know which one to get...

We've got a mix of the Huguenots, the Scots-Irish, Brit...and Cherokee...
We got around.
(and yep, I know which tartan to get as well)

She got a little behind in her work. ;o)

Good ol' American mutt... absolutely. But it's no fun not being able to claim a heritage. I mean, people would laugh if I called myself "Anglo-American" and there's never "Anglo-American Food Fests". (I wonder why?)

Have you ever had British food?
To: Corin Stormhands; JenB

Heh... well, let's say my sister, who hates even pepper in food, is loving English cuisine.
I'm a meat-and-spice kinda gal, so I prefer "British Empire Cuisine" - food from anywhere the British Isles once ruled. Mmm, curry...

We've had a fun time. Haven't seen much of the older boys cause they discovered World of Warcraft in November, and have had a great time playing it while here. One of their friends is staying with us cause his parents are in Florida, so the three of them all have their computers set up in the basement, headphone/mikes on, and are beating up on orcs, etc in Bleeding Hollow, or someplace like that. They are hilarious. They have some friends in a couple of other places who go on quests with them.
We've also watched a couple of movies, though we only got through the first disc of ROTK. We'll have to do the other one tonight or tomorrow. It's going to be another snowy day here tomorrow. I gotta get the boys to split some more firewood.

Puerto Rican / Cuban with a full-blood Spanish grandfather?
I think only the Spanish grandfather holds any promise to a "spicy" background. *laughing*

So... once we get Rosie out to Colorado, can we start plans for the Hobbit Commune? Or are we just going to all show up on g'nad doorstep someday when things get too obnoxious?

Sure, it's all that Caribbean flavoring! ;-)
To: JenB; g'nad
Or are we just going to all show up on g'nad doorstep someday when things get too obnoxious? I don't think it's a wise move to show up at g'nad's unannounced.
To: SuziQ
He is a sweetie!Yep. And the only one in my family (me included) who knows how to give constructive criticism without just insulting somone. ;-)
