The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Apparently he's the one who managed to stay in shape over the holidays...

He's not the only one!!

Heh. Some folks just seem to WANT to get their knickers in a twist over the silliest things. That 'Kid Rock at the Inaugural' thread was just as bad.

Actually the "sinned" gif was referring to "gained weight back over Christmas."

She was in Dublin (or very near there) for all of the last year. Now she is trying to jump though all the flaming hoops and what not to get a license as a doctor of veterinary medicine. And yeah, she definitely needs a job. I am pretty sure she figures 7 years and a doctorate is enough school for a good long time.

You know, if'n Hair and ecurbh wuz to take on Rosie's critters, they'd just about have enough need fer a full time vet...

Here's a link to the Well Trained Mind website. It has lists of books and people to study while in the Grammar ( middle school) stage.

Will she be looking for a job in Texas near your folks, or is she striking out on her own somewhere else?

Near the folks. She likes TX and it is a good place for a wannabee horse doctor to get a start. Plus she can save mucho dinero by living at house at least a few years. M&D's house was designed with that in mind. The area over the garage will make an apartment larger and nicer than mine. (well, if she builds in a fireplace).

Maybe this story'll get the thread goin' again...I fergot to tell it earlier...

One of wife's students and her sister were goofing off at their mom's office. Decided to photocopy their behinds. One sister (not the student) said "you have to bear down really hard."

The glass shattered.

When wife got to class yesterday, the student was kneeling.

Wife say "praying before class?"

"Ummm...no"

Wife went on to teach and student stayed kneeling. Wife asked her what was wrong.

"I'd rather not say."

Hands shot up all over the class room "I'll tell you! I'll tell you!"
