(Vanity)Some people just need to shut the hell up(Vanity) AKA Please flame me, I'm bored. (Vanity)
Dec. 19, 2004 | BirBear

Okay, so I'm doing my nightly FReeper thing, reading new posts, visiting the threads that I've been pinged to, etc..etc. Nothing new, I've been doing this for several years now, pretty much on a daily basis. I don't start too many threads (because frankly, nobody really wants or needs my 2 cents).

But tonight I've had it. I can't bite my tongue any more. I've got to vent.

Why are there A LOT of Freepers who insist on commenting on topics that they have no idea what the hell they're talking about?

I just got done reading the thread about the Rush Limbaugh spoof on Saturday Night Live last night vis a vis The Drudge Report Story. There were something like 70+ posts on the thread: (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1304821/posts) And it's clearly obvious that maybe three posters had actually scene the SNL sketch in question.

I love the fact that everybody is free to their opinion, but geez...why must a thread about a TV show be clogged up with self righteous after self righteous claiming that they haven't seen SNL in 20 years, or some even claiming that they don't even bother watching TV.
Good for you!! Great! I don't freakin' care if you do or not. Why are you bothering posting on a TV related thread of you're so above the mighty idiot box?

Or, for that matter, the people who claim that SNL isn't as funny now as it was when Belushi, Chase, Akroyd, or whoever was on it. Boo yah! I don't have time to participate in what was. I didn't watch SNL then, I barely watch it now.

Of the 70+ posts on the thread maybe a dozen were actually about the event in question. And those all seemed to say the same thing: The producers of that particular animated segment bashed both sides pretty evenly.

Yeah, I agree it's pretty insane that a show that has had the drug abusers and drug ODs that SNL has would poke fun at Rush's drug problem. (I actually thought the skit was pretty outdated, Rush's drug probelm was last years news.) But I understand why one of the NBC execs would be pretty outraged and that is somewhat newsworthy. (Though, it being on Drudge I wonder how newsworthy it really is.)

But that's not the first time I've seen crap like this happen... and it's happening with more and more frequency on FR. People totally out of the loop offering their opinion without knowing any of the facts.

There was a thread earlier today about California Employee's retirement system. I'm getting slammed in there because of a posters idea of what the FEDERAL retirement system is. No where that I saw did anybody start talking about the Federal... I was talking about California as that is what experience I have, and that's what the blessed article was about.

But nobody reads any more. They see a headline, they have their 2 cent opinion, and they post it.

Where's the critical thinking process at? It's lacking in the threads I'm reading. (And if it's on the threads I'm not reading, I apologize for not knowing it.)

If I didn't know better I'd think DU was sending very well disguised trolls over, just to water down everything.

Okay, I guess I'm done ranting now. Flame away, I can take it.

I was going to flame you for this comment but then I realized that your comment was flamebait. So I won't. HA!

Dang. But I bet if I keep reading there will be someone who isn't as smart as you are. :-)

"The Mexican and Muslim bashing has gotten out of hand, especially over this weekend.

Not to mention the gay-bashing.

One of the reasons I'd never recommend this board to anyone I knew who was sort of wavering between the two parties to attempt to convert them or anything.

I have a sneaking suspicion in 5 years this will basically be a board for religious conservatives only, as well. Hope I'm proven wrong."

You people kill me...

"Islam bashing" will NEVER be out of vogue here or in the MSM. Wanna know why??

NEWS FLASH:

Islam is at war with the West -- that INCLUDES the Unites States of America.

NEWS FLASH:

Illegal immigration -- mostly of Mexican descent -- has been the subject of the invasion these United States for years. It is not only an economic concern, but a SECURITY concern, and a matter of preserving our sovereignty.

NEWS FLASH:

We are amidst a culture war. Are you oblivious of the attempted hijacking of American tradition and values with bogus "hate crimes" legislation, subverted "entertainment," and so-called Gay "marriage"??

NEWSFLASH:

This Christmas Season, the movement to irradicate "Christ" from Christmas has taken a higher profile -- via the ACLU.

IF you are so displeased with the mood of FR, than get lost. And don't let the door hit your sorry whining @ss on the way out.

ARRRRRRRGGH! Would someone tell me if the comment made in #3 is worth the trip? If I don't go back, I'll never know. I may lay awake tonight wondering what SouthernFreebird said that was so funny. :-)

Sir ? by the way , I am not trying to make a argument here, actually, I am in a good mood now ( besides the fact I just ate 2 cans of CHILLI ( not really hot chilli, doctor won't allow it ) , and I am having digestive distress now , I hate that when that happens ).
Anyway, my post was, there are other issues to channel your outrage in , like the one I mentioned about RUMMY and the dems.
Don't worry about me, I'll survive the CHILLI .

That is way awesome though! I (sadly enough) often see more dead elk though than I would like to see, but for some reason, they always end up at or across from my school, or on the freeway going Northbound towards the point of the mountain.

Not always a nice thing to see, since one of the few on the freeway had a misunfortunate calculation of attempting to cross at the time a farely large diesel was approaching and shifting speed and could not slow down in time... (happened during the night)

...how about a 350 posts per week limit?

Howlin, what do you think about Diddle E. Squat's proposal?

I've never been called a troll before. But I'll bet you're often wrong.

You are mighty ungrateful. You asked for flames, I gave you one, and now you are whining about that.

If you are such a good judge of flames, why don't you just flame yourself. I'll save my efforts for folks who are more appreciative of my efforts.

Regarding my proposal for a 350 posts per week limit, I'd suggest a handful of exemption for Freeper All-Stars (or perhaps a Cyber-Militia for Common Sense), and Howlin would be at the top of my list of nominees for such status.

I've never seen her post 30 times to a thread about how X is a RINO because their favorite color is purple and thus we should vote 3rd-party Tancredo because Jorge isn't really a Christian (with requisite 'Pastor' Chuck Baldwin & LP links.)

Let me rephrase that to be clear:

I've never seen her post 30 times per thread that "X is a RINO because their favorite color is purple and thus we should vote 3rd-party Tancredo because Jorge isn't really a Christian (with requisite 'Pastor' Chuck Baldwin & LP links.)"

I do appreciate her taking the time and effort to go toe to toe and refute the ridiculous.

No, I just checked out the birbear's home page. I thought it was funny. I just try not to take life to seriously, it isn't fun if you do. I live in AZ and the weather here is just beautiful.

I was just kidding about your throat. :) I live in NM close to the AZ border and it's been beautiful here for the last couple of days. They say it's going to change this week, but they never get it right, so I'll enjoy the nice weather until it does snow.

I'm sorry, I didn't see the SNL thread, but I saw the Colts beat the Ravens. Peyton Manning now has 47 TD's for the season. One less than Dan Marino's record, set in 1984.

THAT was your idea of a whine? Good lord, I hope you never get married.

Also, I said I expected flames, didn't necessarily mean I wanted them. But if you're going to flame, expect to be flamed back.
