Just viewed the movie Closer. It was nothing short of graphic pornagraphy. The audience could be heard almost gasping at the internet sex language. It included graphic descriptions. The film contained graphic pictures and strip scenes with many unbelievable direct sexual references.
I regret that some youth will see this movie. It was shocking to say the least.
I haven't seen Julia's movies since she decalred that folks of my political persuasion were morons. I guess she believes that this is the only way that she can revive her career.
She has really overstepped her bounds with those who went thinking it would be a chick flick. Many older married couples were just stunned. Her image will be quite altered from this display of language. A chat room was in full dipsplay with words and descriptions too immoral to print here. This movie attacks morality to the hilt.
I have no doubt many parents will not know to ban this movie.
From the South Park threads to Desperate Housewives, the Holier-than-thou (cause sex is evil, dontchaknow) brigade on FR is always on the move. After all, where would you find meaning and purpose in your lives if you weren't campaigning against "dirty" movies (even mainstream Julia Roberts movies for God's sake), TV Shows, and music videos?
Your motto: Never surrender!... Never give up!... Never say die!... What's a "free market"?... Whadda mean "personal choice"?...R-rated? Never heard of that before...Tinky Winky is a homo...the Smurfs are satanic...etc.
You know, until I read this post I wasn't sure I'd actually pay good money to go see Closer, even though I was leaning towards it (if only for the amazing Natalie Portman).
Now I know I will. On the first day.
AND I'm going to write your name on the 10$ bill before I hand it over.
AND that ticket-taker will look at my face and see the biggest, most maniacal grin he's ever seen in his life.
Have a good night. MOO-HOO-HA-HA-Haaaa!
Spite isn't a good enough reason to go see a Julia Roberts movie, although I sympathize with you.
Just wanted to assure you that anyone with reasonable taste will not consider seeing this movie sitting next to their friend, neighbor, spouse or date. It is probably a cheap way to avoid the internet sex chat charges though and get popcorn to boot for those who prefer shock theater as opposed to the true art of theater. There will be plenty that go that will think twice about seeing another movie of hers.
I thought the previews looked like a movie with no plot and a lot of sex.
I can't stand Julia Roberts.
Away foul troll...zot!
One movie I won't be seeing. Of course, I won't see any Julia Roberts movie. Leftist Wench!
You're going to write "AmericanMade" on the bill?
The movie never gets going and is only about constant partner swapping. You get every description of sex in every form. That pretty much sums up the movie. The plot was lost somewhere, but the drama is in trying to figure out which one is sleeping with who and it changes throughout the movie. The supsense was in thinking she was sleeping with her husband and cheating on her lover, but that she was really cheating on her husband and sleeping with her lover. That flips later. Gosh I hate to spoil the surprise for everyone.
At the end of the movie I looked at my husband and we both just said there is no way we waisted our time for this. As I left the theater a movie rater asked us to grade it from an A to an F. I said F and she said you are not alone in that rating! Someone else said D and someone said hey that's pretty high for this movie!
At least you know you weren't alone in your rating.
The looks on the faces of those leaving the theater suggests that others felt the same. I would have thought she would be able to turn down low rate films. Maybe she doesn't know how to judge them. Perhaps her agents have lost touch with reality.
"After all, where would you find meaning and purpose in your lives if you weren't campaigning against "dirty" movies (even mainstream Julia Roberts movies for God's sake), TV Shows, and music videos?"
I think you are mistaking my meaning in life for yours.
True entertainment arrives from true talent that is enriched with disciplined practice of that divinely given talent. You may refer to the dictionary for the definition of talent if you must.
This movie has nothing to do with quality or talent. It also contains a distasteful view for youth who may mistake a Julia Roberts movie as the way to live. It is a cultural embarrassment. I felt inclined to share so that others who might not enjoy shock theater might spend their time elsewhere.
Sometimes I think they are paid by the movie industry to promote these films. I had absolutely zero interest in seeing this film, now I might give a shot.
