First, astronomers thought Uranus was just one star among many in the night sky. Even after 1781, when they knew better, there was little they could see the seventh planet was too far away.

Let's not forget that great scene from Firesign Theater's "The Year of the Rat", where Uranus Corporation runs a TV ad where a brown, nasty looking substance oozes out of a spigot, and the announcer says "The best things in the world come from Uranus"...

If they only knew back when. I bet there would be a different name for this planet today if they had!

Uranus is askew! Who knew? Is that like a door is a jar?
But seriously though. Researchers have been delving deep into Uranus for a long time now.

" Could be those rings are gaseous emissions."
Recent deep probes by NASA to Uranus have discovered that those rings around Uranus are made of lipstick.

From the article (LOL):
Uranus is one of the four gas giants in the solar system, along with Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune. Too bad it's discoverer did not have an ego. Then unanus would be called Herschel.
