"A walk in the sun"
This film follows a platoon of American soldiers from the time they land in Europe until they complete their mission...capturing a German occupied farmhouse in World War Two Italy. The talented and diverse cast includes:Dana Andrews, John Ireland, Lloyd Bridges, George Tyne, Huntz Hall and Richard Conte. Kudos also to director Lewis Milestone.

Yeah, that whole speech was awesome. My favorite:
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

Also another great line! I also like the "Hun b@st2rd" part ..........that was a great idea to put in that whole speech at the beginning.......it really sets up the mood for the rest of the movie.

Hey !
What about "Twelve O'Clock High" ?
A masterpiece. The greatest chewing out scene in the history of motion pictures.

For post-war I liked The Best Years of Our Lives, (1946). Patton was great. Also Private Ryan shown last night on ABC. Those that didn't want it shown are FUBAR.

Not a movie as such but Band Of Brothers would be my #1 WWII production. The Longest Day, Saving Private Ryan, Where Eagles Dare and perhaps the less realistic but more entertaining Kelly's Heroes.

Does anyone remember "The Story of G.I. Joe" (1945) based on the writings of Ernie Pyle?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tora! Tora! Tora! Way better than Pearl Harbor.
