KLOL, 101.1 FM announced Friday that station has changed formats. The station switched from a classic rock format to a Latino music format branded as Mega 101.
KLOL is now branded as Mega 101 FM. The station's web site was listed as under construction, but KLOL's former morning show hosts Walton and Johnson announced on their web site that they were informed Thursday night of the change.
The radio hosts stated on WaltonandJohnson.com that, "Thursday night Walton and Johnson were informed by lower-level management sources via a last-minute phone call that there would be no Walton and Johnson Show tomorrow. In it's place would be Hispanic music programs."

Morris weaves interviews with a wild animal trainer, a topiary gardener, a robot designer and an expert on the naked mole rat together with old movies, cartoons and stock footage, creating a compelling, kaleidoscopic look at the very thin line that separates madness from genius.
Sounds like a heck of a documentary!

Clear Channel owns part of XM. They also own KLOL.
Screw them if they think that they can run off the audience to their pay radio and replace them with a lower income demographic less likely to buy digital radio at this time.
Clear Channel concerts still have the contracts on the civic auditoriums around town but damned if I will buy a $25-125 ticket if they don't believe that there is an audience for these same bands on the radio.

You know I can't remember exactly, but when we "evaluated" them, Sirius came out on top, may have been the choices and initial costs I think. Sirius is $10 if you pay annual chunk, $13 if monthly. Second subscription is additional $6 month I think. The startup costs of "docking station" (receiver) and whatever the other doohickey is (we bought a package at Circuit City) prolly around $100. You can get a portable boombox, or get a docking/receiver for your car (has removeable faceplate I think).
You'll need to read up on it all at the website. After shopping around between a car stereo place and online etc, we got the best deal at Circuit City. We wanted to buy local in case there were any hardware issues, and it was cheapest too.
We listen to Sirius and dropped cable TV. Fox News entire programming is on Sirius, as well as every ball game - hubby is happy cuz he can get games they don't show on TV. It's insane how much choice you have in music- and comedy as well, and they even have a comedy channel that's profanity/lewd free if you have young kids to worry about. Add to that lots of talk radio channels too.
We have been very very pleased.

Well, that may be a good reason to opt for Sirius over XM. I agree that radio should be free, but I am also aware that classical music composed centuries ago by a bunch of DWEMs (dead white European males) is not really setting the world on fire these day, so my choices are somewhat limited.

We cannot celebrate our diversity if we cannot talk with one another. We are being balkanized as a nation.
That, I definitely agree with. In the town where I live we used to have orchards that brought seasonal workers every year. Besides raising a little hell now and then, they were no problem. They would speak Spanish among themselves, but most could speak English well.
The music industry always tries to dictate, but the underground music movement has always lead the way. The industry eventually capitulates(as it always has).
