In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

1. In a series; one after another.
"Two days from the opening of the impeachment debate, gangs of television crews moved through mostly deserted corridors, doling out their 15 minutes of fame seriatim as individual lawmakers stepped up to batteries of microphones."
--The New York Times, December 16, 1998
Etymology: From Latin series, meaning "row, chain," and is formed on the same model as verbatim ("word for word"), literatim ("letter for letter") and gradatim ("step by step")..

I didn't realize it had been 29 years either-I wonder if they will have something on Discovery channel on it tonight-I'll watch, even though I've seen it at least 10 times. I've always liked that song, too.

As The Wreck and Brandy are two of the very few songs I know by heart, my Maggie often hears them as she needs to be calmed or falling asleep. Im not sure what the long-term effects will be. If nothing else, it ought make her very leery of sea men in general.

Y'all can pick your friends, but not your neighbors:-)

November 10, 1975. I was in Kansas at McConnell AFB at the time. I had 7 months of my 4 year tour left. Gordon Lightfoot sings like the Swedish Chef from the Muppets. I do a great Lightfoot imitation.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!
Actually though, the music for both of those songs is very soothing........if you don't pay attention to the lyrics.

I've only watched it 50 or so times. The song is good but Lightfoot's mush mouth cracks me up.

"Resistance is futile, abandon all hope ye who would not grovel at the Lord of the World's feet" shriek the banshee hordes of Satan in the Cult of the Moon, as they march with
seriatim determination towards global domination.

Watch out-if the child grows up to be mistrustful of seafaring men, she might sue you for her having PTSD...
