Citibank email scam

Recently there have been a large number of cyber attacks pointing our database servers. In order to safeguard your account, we require you to sign on immediately.

This personal check is requested of you as a precautionary measure and to ensure yourselves that everything is normal with your balance and personal information.

This process is mandatory, and if you did not sign on within the nearest time your account may be subject to temporary suspension.

Please make sure you have your Citibank(R) debit card number and your User ID and Password at hand.

Please use our secure counter server to indicate that you have signed on, please click the link bellow:

!! Note that we have no particular indications that your details have been compromised in any way.

I got this email tonight and I want to have this SOB thrown in jail. Does anyone know if it is possible and if so what are the steps?

I have gotten that email at least 20 times, I forwarded it to Citi Bank and have yet to hear back

There are hundreds of these "phishing" e-mails out there going out to millions of e-mail accounts.

Thank you for your suggestion. I just emailed it off. I also sent it to my ISP. People that prey on others like this should be locked up for life. We have a nice little hotel not far from here named Attica. I'm sure they have room for this scum.

I get lots of these for "Citi" bank and other "banks" too. Anybody else getting notices of being "approved" for big mortages also? Always $300-400k. Perhaps a little more subtle than Nigeran scams only not quite as funny.
