~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XVI~
November 6, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

If I could find my muse
I would sing a song for you
if she were not so secretive
I might even sing you two...

A Patch of Old Snow

There's a patch of old snow in a corner
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.

It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of a day I've forgotten --
If I ever read it.

Mary, Did You Know?

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Did you know
That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered
Will soon deliver you

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little boy
You've kissed the face of God

Mary, did you know?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Did you know
That your baby boy will one day rules the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding
Is the Great I Am

Another thought:
She walked around the crowd in rags
in crowed alleys and byways
full of shame with head held low
a derelict of highways
a song of sorrow she did sing
of a broken heart and wing
of sadness in the soul so deep
the dragon only knew her keep.

The Dragon:
The dragon by another name
came in bottles filled with shame
outrageous actions were all told
in pubs and barrooms as in old
days of bawdiness and sass
from the lips of that young lass
the knights did not behold her well
and walked with her into their hell
and judged her on the rack of pain
when they themselves had done the same.

Ask me not from whence it came
it came and
I put it down again.
