The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

See the horrific result of an early exposure to the prose stylings of Tolkien?

Pure horror. There is no recovery from damage like that.

Nope. I blame it on my mother. After all, she taught me to read with phonics...

I tell ya, when I get my next cholesterol test back, if it's low, I'm going back to eating regular mayo. I don't eat that much mayo and I've decided that is the one thing that the substitute just doesn't do justice. Honestly, eating the substitute gives me the impression of chewing on a polyester suit.

I'd just encourage you not to be too casual about your faith.

I spend a lot of time thinking about it.... I am glad there are a lot of people who try very hard to understand how the whole thing works and the few who have really "got it". I enjoy pondering and searching and reading and thinking about it. I just think whenever people get together to try to organize faith they end up cluttering it up.

Anytime you'd like the full sermon series, just let me know. ;-)

My friend Tiffney would be REALLY disappointed if I let someone else get to me first. :~D

I just view it as a support structure for belief. You pick the one that matches your beliefs, go there and if you start slipping in your beliefs you have the feedback of a support network to get back on track. All there is to it.

Heh. Well, my family appreciates your efforts on our behalf. ;~)

Sigh... that would be nice if I could find a decent "support network" here. Blah.

What I want for Christmas: a sound system in my home church and somebody who tapes the sermons. Then I could go to church here but still listen to the good sermons from home.

I hear that. I am a bit lacking around here in the fellowship department. My church is not the best I have been to but I find the sermons are best if I actually go listen to them. I just wish I had more like minded friends around here. Politically as well as religiously.

Ditto, ditto.

I try to listen to the sermons but I've been spoiled by, you know, decent sermons. It's hard to pay attention to boring rambling monologues in the hope that something good is buried within.

Honestly, some Sundays I feel like I'm going for the hymns... bad attitude. I'm not going for me at all.

Sounds like you at least have some decent hymn action going on :P
There are worse reasons to go than to sing His praises don'cha know.

Well, half the songs are hymns. Some of them are the good ones. The rest are praise choruses. Mostly really bad ones. I try not to complain too much.

You're right, it is a good support network. I love being around people who have better faith than myself, it makes me better. I love that the hobbit hole is full of so many friends that bring great testimony and fellowship here.

Shall we all stand and sing..

Preach it, Brother Corin!

LOL! It's fun to be able to understand, laugh about and even poke fun sometimes without folks getting their knickers in a twist cause we know where we're coming from! That's what I love about the Hole.

I have never liked the phrase "the Devil made me do it". Because it ain't so.

Oh I agree completely, we're completely responsible for our own choices, but he can sure encourage other folks to make OUR lives miserable because of THEIR stupid choices! ;o)

Joshua came ambling around the front of the car and said "Well, THAT startled me!"

LOL! He's such a hoot!

I'm enjoying homemade almond butter with canola oil on two slices of low carb bread with just a sprinkle of splenda and a diet riot.

They don't sell this bread as low carb...they sell it as (don't look, hair) "High Fiber"...It's Vey Good bread at only 5 carbs per slice.
