The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

:-)

I think it's the timing more than anything that makes me suspicious...Right here within a few months of graduation and everything hits at once (Well, ok, over the last year...)

It's ok! I'm very optimistic.

But I wonder if I could find that part on line? That spring? It's massive...like 3" in diameter and 4' long...heavy duty spring...

See if you can find out the name of the manufacturer of the door.

Take the broken one to a hardware store. Not a big box store, the local place where the old guys hang out and make remarks about new-fangled power drills. Ask them if they have something similar, or if they can order one for you.

I simply believe that the more earnestly one tries to follow Christ, the more severely the enemy will try to derail you.

So being lackadaisical and relatively unchurched is a ~Good~ thing?

Well 'the devil made me do it' sounds more poetic than 'my sinful nature made me susceptible to the devil's enticement'.

What I have found, in spite of all my rantings and whinings and fits here on line is the God has never abandoned us in our need. Sometimes he doesn't show up when we want Him too. But he always shows up.

Agreed! He always remembers us when we have forgotten all about Him...which is easy to do in my household and a daily problem.

Corin, I SO empathise over the accident you had with your son. I had a collision (my fault) when Erin was still using the car seat (back seat), and I crossed an intersection that I was quite certain (at the time) was my right of way, but ended up broadsiding a vehicle filled with twelve children, most of whom were NOT buckled. Fortunately, I was not going very fast, and no one was seriously hurt, thank God. But I felt so incredibly stupid.

God bless!

Heh, well the devil hardly need to put himself out to put you where you already are. All he needs to do is derail the occasional efforts of friends and family. I go through lackadaisical cycles myself so I see the differences.

Don't make me bring out the BIG Bible...

I'm not going to turn this into preaching Hair. But quite seriously, the strongest warnings in the Book of the Revelation were to the churches who were "neither hot, nor cold."

I'd just encourage you not to be too casual about your faith.

You noticed that one? I was thinking using that word might damage my argument hehehe.

Or maybe even "my sinful nature means I don't really even need the devil's enticement to do what I ought not".

It's got a warning tag right on it saying something about extreme tension and danger...

I tell ya, I nearly had a heart attack when it broke, it made such a horrific noice and I couldn't see Joshua...I started screaming "WHERE ARE YOU!" (He was between the cars) and Steve said "I'm right here!" Well, I could SEE Steve! I said "NOT YOU! JOSHUA!" Joshua came ambling around the front of the car and said "Well, THAT startled me!"

But that uses 'enticement' AND 'ought' so it is even more poetic.
