The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I need a wheel cover on my old ship (to big to be called a 'boat'). The wheel is so old that the rubber rubs off on hands and pants the brush against it :P

Don't you just love holiday shopping? *rolls eyes*

I need to go out and get some new uniforms for Becky, but I do not dare set foot near the stores this time of year unless absolutely necessary.

I've decided to get most of the folks on my list a DVD or two. I just can't afford anything else this year!

Man, if I had money, I'd be downright dangerous! I saw some down comforters on sale and they were so wonderful, I'd buy one for everyone if'n I had an extra thousand bucks. LOL!

No! Can you believe it?

I got caught up watching Wife Swap (ABC was still on since I watched Lost earlier) and forgot about South Park. Doh!!

I did read what it was about though. Wasn't it a Paris Hilton bash? If it was, I am so sorry I missed it.

Judy Garland would have had difficulty with it.

I understand...

I'm having fun tonight loading the jukebox with good ol'fashioned rock and roll.

These kids here seem to need a lesson in the form of Guns-n-Roses, AC/DC, and such.

Getting a little "Paradise City" goin' on even as we speak.

Previous on the playlist was Santana's "Smooth". This, I think, might be the best single ever recorded. I can't 'splain it, but I really dig that song.

Home. Alcohol. Life is better.

Today I:
- loaded 20+ programs onto a computer to get it up to department spec. This includes Visual Studio, which is a pain to install.
-Hauled computers around
- Fought with Office for an hour before discovering that the problem, while probably caused by the user trying to update where he should not have, was actually with Norton AntiVirus
-Had to reboot a server. Twice.
-Learned I must teach a department secretary about the care and feeding of computers

At least I worked enough today that I can sleep in one hour late tomorrow. Which is good, because there's a paper I must finish tonight...

Well, of course.

Roger that. Visual Studio is especially a problem on computers for people that know what they are doing.

- Fought with Office for an hour before discovering that the problem, while probably caused by the user trying to update where he should not have, was actually with Norton AntiVirus
I gave up on Norton some years ago for a similar, yet unrelated reason.

-Had to reboot a server. Twice.
Groovy. Better and more points given if you do it without warning.

-Learned I must teach a department secretary about the care and feeding of computers
Some people, you just can't teach.
