The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sigh... wish I liked it any more. The science and magic theme is one I'm working out in my "real" novel, the Novel Which Will Consume My Life if I let it....

Um... put it this way... have I ever mentioned why I started writing again when I was 16? There was this little series nobody knew much about called "Harry Potter", and I read the two published books and discovered there were three other people writing fanfiction...

That's right, cuz I'm back on Atkins and I et it all! Mwahaha...

Seriesly, I desperately need to lose a few pounds before I go home, because I'm up from where I should be and if I don't lose, by New Years my pants won't fit.

I'm far happier with my kid story than I am with anything else I've written, though it's vey flawed and admittedly cliched. And putting in fun little creative details is just beyond my abilities. They just don't occur to me, though I enjoy reading 'em! And subplots are good...

I really *dislike* the journal, partly because there are *no* subplots or twists - but I don't have to finish it. Whew! Just hafta come up with one more week's worth o' crap, and then I can work on things I *do* like.

But reading is far easier...

I already sent in my measurements for that dress.

I'm trying not to think about that this far out, but I've also been vey bad lately with regards to sticking to the diet in any way shape or form.

Yes! Another 15k and I'm done! It was a good experience but the story is starting to seriesly bore me...

Well, time to go. See you when I'm there.

I love being able to drive to school. I think it took me longer to scrape my windshield than to drive up here. Ah, and the ease of parking today!

Yep...there are acres of empty parking lot here!

Everyone went out for lunch 'cept me. I'm too broke.

But hey, it's kinda nice to be alone without the phone ringing or much of anything going on...

I brought beef log and mustard. See, I got it to take to the NaNo writing party yesterday, but they already had a beef log. They did not, however, have Really Great Mustard. Mmm... sweet and hot stone ground...

I love good mustard...I get ridiculed by my family for that obsession... ;-)

But my favorite is probably horseradish stone ground...can't remember the brand. Marvelous stuff, that.

Horseradish is good, but that stuff can blow your brains out if you're not careful.

Mmmm...blow my brains out...

Mom used to say really good horseradish made ya feel like you just got kicked in the back of the head.

I guess I come by my obsession honestly...

I like my mustard to be just a tiny bit sweet. That cuts the spice and lets me eat more of it.

I like sweet mustard on occasion.

Like...now. Grr! You're makin' me hungry!

In other news...I just found out I have Wednesday off, too. I'm stunned.

Unfortunately I won't have a car - Van-sama's getting his new windshield that day.

Hey, but don't complain about a day off!

I just found out they don't have inspections here in Colorado. That made me happy, you can bet!

Oh, yes, I sympathize with that!

It's so quiet here today. And kind of boring...
