The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Clare and I just got back from Hydrobics. I hadn't been able to go the last three weeks for one reason or another, so it was good to get some exercise!

Am fixing to head out to get some brushes for the troops' stockings. The Girls had such a good time filling them with stuff that they'd brought; slim jims, wet wipes, chapstick, slinkys, playing cards, chewing gum, hard candies, and twizzlers!

I dunno what PDR is...but sounds like something I should be happy NOT knowing about...

I'm supposed to clean my office as there's company tomorrow.

*sigh*

My legs stiffen up if I sit still for more than 20 minutes. And it hurts when I walk, but it's a good hurt, a "you lifted yesterday! Soon you will have muscle, not flab!" sort of hurt.

It's been a long morning. Am well into my second week of go-around with an instructor who wants her printer drivers fixed but won't let me have her computer, or leave it when she's not around. And she thinks putting pictures on her door of President Bush and a monkey with a caption "This is why computer vision has recognition difficulties" is the height of wit. Grr.

Speaking of pain...it's gonna cost me $250 or so for that windshield.

But at least it'll be done.

Just made the appointment. I should schedule my inspection while I'm at it.

Oh, dear...

And my inspection is due next month. Got to get right on it since I'm out of town for the last two weeks of December.

My inspection is due by the end of the month. Nothing like cutting it close; but then, I always do!

Hm...wondering if it's too early still to bring out the worst in Mr. Wrong.

Heh...speaking of which, I've been callin' the good guy Andy Wright - I had the Andy already, and then on my guitar mailing list there's an Andy Wright and I thought that was a nice, plain name - fits him. Wasn't until today that I realized that made him...Mr. Wright. *groan*

I'm so dense sometimes.

I guess!

It shoulda been obvious, though.

Like I said...sometimes I'm awfully dense!

OK, my main character is really ticked off at the guy she HAD thought the best. Woo-hoo! An angry entry. This'll be FUN to write!

OK guys.... I am out digging and cleaning out my drainage trench this morning when a hole opens up and all the water starts disappearing into the ground. This pics are with the hose running full bore to fill the trench.

Water ran into this hole for a good five minutes with the hose on full bore. We dug around a little, but couldn't figure where the water was going. Then, either we filled it up or we plugged it, and the water started draining down the trench again.

Mole tunnel? Haven't really had moles there and it's kinda deep for a mole... Where'd the water go?

No snakes here bigger than a garter snake.

The more I think about it, it is probably a mole tunnel, though really deep for them. ecurbh had visions of a big underground cavern or sinkhole starting, and I wondered if he had another buried barrel. ;~D

I'd love to include them, but I'd planned to send the stockings tomorrow. Would you like for me to send you the soldier's name in Kirkuk to whom the stockings are going? You could send them directly to him!

You should dig it up and see.

Right! Laundry and lifting time. I want to have time to go to the used bookstore this evening - I have decided to do most of my Christmas shopping there this year.

Crawdad?

Hello! Steve took Matthew to Latin, took Josh along for the ride.

I don't have a clue what to make for supper. Not a solitary clue.
