The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Mine has all yellow pages too, and small print. Crumbly.
Says $2.95 on the cover. No date other than 1965, but I don't believe it to be that old, I wouldn't think.

I thought classic rock was like Chuck Berry and Ray Charles, or maybe "Pink Cadillac" and all that stuff, that was around when I was little! Well, teenager for Chuck Berry. Some weirdos, though.

Loved the pictures of the horses, Hair!

I'm going to bed...Joshua has the sniffles and it's liable to be a rough night if he gets worse.

Night all!

Perhaps 'Classic Metal' is more apt?

Classic rock is all in the perspective of what generation you grew up in, I think. LOL!

I know they play mostly 60s and 70s music. Where does that fit in on the classic rock scale?

Close enough though!

Trouble here. Alyson took a late nap and now she's fussing. Sheesh.

No rest for the weary.

I'll see you tomorrow. Good night!

Hmm... I show up and everyone leaves...

Ugh, had a nice hot bath and then a brief very cold shower (ok... I'm weird... but it feels oddly good) and now my body doesn't want to move. I'm sort of sliding sideways in my chair...

Mine has a publication date of 1965, but I think this re-print was 1975. I'll check it tomorrow. SSQ has already zonked out for the night, and Clare and Joseph are having fun with Halo 2 at the moment, though I'm calling them up in 8 minutes.
