I just heard O'Reilly's talking points, and he was sort of slamming Kerry for not appearing on his show. It was the only time I've ever heard him speak about Kerry in a negative tone.
He also led with Bush's good poll numbers, and he's also doing a segment on the impact the Swiftvets have had on Kerry. It might be a hit piece, but until recently, O'Reilly wouldn't go near the Swiftvet issue unless he was forced to, but now, he's choosing to do a segment.
I'm wondering if he's realizing that he's been driving away his Conservative base, and is doing an about face.
I've noticed a shift the last couple of weeks as well. He's not infuriatiing me the way he did all year.
The only reason he says anything is because he thinks it will schnooker a larger audience.
If it wasn't for the lawsuit and Kerry not giving him an interview, I don't think he would be talking about Bush's poll numbers.
Have you noticed how no one on these shows will give a definitive answer? The guy from the Brookings Institute was trying every way he could not to agree with Bill when he said that if Bush says there will be no draft, there will be no draft! What a weazel
Expect that O'Reilly will attempt to shore up his increasing disinfranchised base of conservatives due to his recent legal troubles.
This is a calculated move by FOX, not a 'by chance". O'Reilly viewership has stagnated and even fallen a small bit as of recent. The sexual nature of his legal problems will turn off what is percieved as his base.
Expect this for the next several weeks if O'Reilly can hold his ego in check.
NeverGore :^)
Dan Rather is not giving him his cBS news chair.
It's all about O'Reilly. All the time.
Unfortunately, O'Reilly is radioactive right now. Kerry, gutless turd that he is, doesn't dare come within 10 miles of Mister Felafel.
Win-win, if you ask me.
Here's a guy who ignored the Swiftvets for almost a month ater the story broke, then gave John O'Neill 10 minutes. O'Reilly knows he lost viewers with his dismissive attitude towards those great Veterans.
Did anyone see the earlier post on another thread that said that Bill announced he had new information on the Swift Boat people? I haven't heard anymore about it nor has Bill mentioned it so far on his program. What happened with that story?
I think he should go to Chomsky or Alter for someone's shoulder to cry on.
Keep walking, pal. We ain't buying.
Well, O'Reilly didn't get Kerry yet but H&C got Cheney and Bush ---yippers!
During the last one and a half year -- O'Reilly really seemed to be off.
Now we know why -- a lawsuit.
Now that it's all out in the open and the tide seems to be turning -- maybe we will see the old Bill O'Reilly back?
I certainly hope so.
I've never watched more than a few minutes of this blowhard,
but I sense that it is too late. He has blown any credibility
he might have had with most FR readers. He cannot be relied
upon to take a position based on anything other than whether
it benefits Bill.
He's been such an opportunist, that he's also blown any
benefit-of-the-doubt about his present he-said/she-said
scandal. Most here (me included), suspect a liberal
blackmail scam, but are content to just see the facts play
themselves out.
And unfortunately, "blackmail", unlike extortion, means
that the threatened dirt is true dirt.
Exactly, oreally is only looking out for himself.
This guy is a phony and is not worth my time, I stopped watching after his initial comments about the swiftvets.
If it's just having Doug Brinkley ("Tour Of Duty") on, it won't be pro SBVFT. Brinkley's book just came out in paperback...easier to burn ;-)
Hungry? Wanna falafel?
