I look at the polls and see that they are so close. Conventional wisdom has said that somewhere in the final weeks the polls would break in one direction for the candidate that will win. No such break has been seen so far.
But I find it confounding that the polls are even close at all. I'm beginning to believe that the polls would still be close even if the Dem's nominated a Ham Sandwich.
Looking back I couldn't believe Gore got the support he got. If you've seen Gore lately, he looks and acts like a nut case. Maybe that has something to do with why he's not been seen much in the media this election cycle. Of course, I thought he was a nut case back when he was the V.P..
I thought Clinton was a weak choice when he got the nomination.
Kerry is about as close to a Ham Sandwich as you can get, but he's neck and neck with the President in the polls.
I'm beginning to believe that there is an inevitable eventuality. With the influence of the MSM, voting fraud, weak election laws, illegal immigration, the grotesque ignorance and stupidity of the American public, etc. - we may not be able to stave off the Dem's from taking over in the near future. We may win this election, but in the future the writing may be on the wall, and we may no longer be able to overcome those forces against us.
Take a Xanex.
If it were actually tied, the MSM would be saying Kerry is ahead.
The fact that the are saying it is tied means Kerry is back by 11 points.
I think internal polls show something different. If the MSM is spinning so hard for JFinK why would they show us real polls? Follow the threads previously posted and see the analysis of the internals data for some of them by more analytically minded FReepers. FYI
Remember conventional wisdom about the 2002 elections and what the results were. Remember how surprised the TV pundits were on election night? Wasn't it fun!!!!
Death to vanities. Pain to the vain.
The primary factor, no doubt in my mind, as to why the Al Gore's and John Kerry's can stay so close is this:
The Mainstream Media, not so much what they DO say about the dem candidate, but what they're NOT saying, about the dem candidate. Can you imagine if they actually did their job this year, investigating John O'Neill's claims (and finding the validity of them), scouring through his senate record and reporting on it, etc?
This election would have been over a long time ago, if not for the MSM covering for Kerry.
There is another alternative: that in fact the polls are masking a pretty big GOP win. See my "Perfect Storm of Kook Theories . . . Appears to be Coming Together!"

THANK JIMMY CARTER & THE FEDERALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM.
Just look at where the campaigns are spending time and money. Why are both Kerry and W spending most of their time in states Gore carried in 2000?
TBBT,,I fear you are 'right on the mark' with your comments. Great post, actually. Having said that, let's win this one first and worry about anything after that later!!!
I see the writing on the wall, too. It says "Quit posting vanities".
I have said the same thing in several threads. We are becoming France (even France has a conservative minority). For the moment, about half of the country thinks Euro Socialism is the way to go. As the current minority communities evolve into the majority, we will see a shift to the left. And everything it entails.
"The land of the free and the home of the brave" will be replaced by "the land of the regulated and the home of the squeemish."
Our new motto should be "Don't tread on me too hard!"
Yes! I was so down all day election day 2002 and was surprised election night. The liberal establishment are such liars.
Sorry- something more important is happening in the short run here. We can't afford to lose this election or your doom and gloom scenarios will be upon us shorter than you ever thought.
With that in mind what are YOU doing TODAY to help W get re-elected.
The good will win, and we represent what is good about America, by and large.
Defeatism is suspect, especially since conservatives are optimistic and libs are dour, and have to be so, in order to win.
Your dialectic materialism is showing through. Go back to DU. Before you go, you may want to view Poll average trending toward the president, by Steven Den Beste. It generates the kind of depression that can really rally the Kerry base.
SILENCE, I say!
If it weren't for Vanities, the Institute Of Me would have to close!
Good call. sKerry is playing catch-up (pun intended) and Bush is Eating sKerrys Electoral Lunch TOO.
LOL
