Boy, are you in for a whirlwind of experiences! Is your daughter a freeper? How did you find FR? Happy birthday, fasten your seatbelt & enjoy the ride. *L*

My daughter showed me this site. I don't think she is a member though.
I wonder if there is anybody here who is from Camp Epworth? A Christian summer camp in the Catskills?

Second the motion of all above. Your daughter is thoughtful; you are welcome; and you will find a living encyclopedia among the "Freepers" who are on this website. Any time you pose an interesting question, experts of all type will rise like trout to a dry fly to answer that question quickly and well.

I join all the others in welcoming you to both Free Republic specifically and to the Net generally.
You literally have the world at your finger tips once you become comfortable in exploring all the facilities the Internet has to offer.
Back in the very early -pre Web- 90's I used to tell students there were three great advancements in human communication: developing written language, the invention of moveable type and in our life times the Internet...this changes everything.
As Dan Rather found out a few weeks back when he tried to flog patent forgeries off on the American people. 20 years ago he would have been successful, but today, with the Net, those documents were being debunked within 3 hours of the airing of the show.
Again, Cynthia, welcome; you have a very powerful tool in your hands, use it well.

I went by-by for a bit. If you hadn't answered back, you would have been chased off as a troll. And, we didn't want that to happen.
I'm doing fine, thank you.

Okay, CynthiaW, welcome to FR. Now who's your daughter? Is she a Freeper?
Lemme tell you that joining in October before the November, 2004 presidential election is not exactly a gift. The last presidential election in 2000 lasted 36 days while the election outcome rested on hanging chads in three Florida Democrat counties and it even went to the Supreme Court.
Freepers were active in protesting, and our "Sore-Loserman" t-shirt became an overnight classic. Thirty-six days was one hell of roller-coaster ride, though, and we trust this election will be over on the first evening.
If not, please join us for the next the Maalox nightmare.:D
