debate #1 was a real stinker - at least in terms of presentation and style. What happened? Enquiring minds want to know.

I'll tell you what happened. Bush had been in Florida with the hurricane victims all day and he was obviously exhausted. You saw how up he was in #2 and #3, he is always up when he is stumping. #1 was just a bad night for him all the way around. Then there was Kerry who spent the day at the spa getting a manicure and a pedicure and probably a massage. Now you tell me what the difference was. Do you think this makes sense?

She didn't look very happy at the end. First she has to put up with his unnecessary touching of Edwards, then he puts her behind his dead mother. She is gonna sell his boat tomorrow!

There's a difference between laughing with someone, and laughing at them. Given the odd response and the akward delay, it seems like more of the latter.

I think all of us soccer Moms were amused to hear Kerry acknowledge that his wives married down.

I have a hard time doing a decent presentation after huge doses of death, destruction, deprivation, and misery myself . . . :-(

I think the moderator was laughing for Kerry's benefit because they have recently been trying to 'teach' him to be funny. It was mean't to be a feel good laugh.

Sure. The President looked tired that night. I'm sure he had had some difficult, busy days preceeding that. I understand. I wish it hadn't happened, but I understand.

In any case, he has done great in the 2nd and 3rd debates. Now he's gotta keep hitting them hard so we can win this thing and get back to business!!! :-)

I bet she divorces him after the election! Even if he wins, she thinks the title of First Lady is "Ick!"

Well, he said he was a hunter, --- a fortune hunter that is.

There was an article posted yesterday which discussed the things that Bush, as standing president, couldn't say. It was good and it made Bush's silence on some things and even his frustration understandable.

They just didn't get the irony of his statement at first. Maybe even he didn't realize what he said until after he said it. You did, and I laughed when he said it first, but the audience didn't get it until he said "me more than you" and "it's ok I can take it" (referring to how they all married up).

If Kerry is a gold digger, Terayza is a political digger. They're both using each other. Kerry's failure to even give T. any credit (and he had all the time during Bush's answer to think SOMETHING up) is shameful. He was articulate and charming several times during the debate, but that was a real lame way for him to end.

She is a mess and a sorry representation of the 'refined' or 'elite', as they call them. I'm sure she is a nice 'lady' though ;\

RE; Kerry as Hunter
Actually I see him more as a setter than as a pointer...if you catch my drift.

I think Martha Stewart -- scandal, jail, and all -- has her outclassed.

I don't have the time to read all the threads.....BUT, did anyone catch the ludicrous comment from Kerry about us capturing a document in Iraq. I'm sure that document is behind bars, never to hurt anyone again.

And what about the low blow comment he made about Cheney's homosexual daughter, he should be ashamed

Several seconds passed by then the moderator laughed...I think Scheiffer was first shocked, then laughing at Kerry's stupidity in essentially throwing in the face of the entire country that he, the champion of the common man, had "married up" better than anyone else when he caught himself a billionairess.....
