Studio: Miramax Films
Starring: Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon
4th, because its just too gay looking of a movie! and I'll be wasting my money on "Team America: World Police!"
4th reason: It looks like a Metrosexual chick flick.
The original, a charming Japanese movie is worth seeing. Skip this remake and see the original. You won't be sorry.
Your dancing gerbil graphic brings back fond memories of the "Saving Private Hamster" threads from a while back. Thanks for the laugh. :-)
Is he dancing WITH the gerbil or BECAUSE of the gerbil?
It's a ripoff of a Japanese film.
I've never heard of this movie.
And before I knew Susan Sarandon was a left wing loonie, I couldn't really watch her on film. She's...well...BUG EYED!
It's creepy.
She's a HAG and I would not watch her now.
He was too fast for the duct tape that time. Itchy scratchy... and Preparation H.
Susan receives a "D" for her butt, so she doesn't get further consideration anyway.
Sarandon is really hard on the eyes, and her personality is even worse.
Boring, Boring, and did I say Boring? Besides, Homer, and Bart Simpson are much better actors. Also, Janet Reno is much hotter to look at than Susan Sarandon. Need I say more?
I don't boycott non-political movies because of the personal politics of their stars (recent example: the utterly brilliant Mystic River was my fave film of '03, and it starred the talented yet somewhat psychotic Sean Penn and Tim Robbins). Fine if you want to, but that's just not me. I've come to terms with the fact that 95% of all professional participants in the arts lean left (but WHY???), and it doesn't usually bother me.
I just love the cinema far too much to give them up, and have since I was a 10-year old kid dreaming of kissing Julia Roberts and kicking ass like not-yet Governor Schwarzenegger, and winning the Oscar like Tom Hanks and Robert DeNiro. I watch maybe two a month in the theater and rent all the time. Now, this doesn't mean that I won't go out of my way to slip a few more bucks to a film/musician, etc. if I find out that they're a Republican like me (Bruce, Mel), or an upright patriotic Democrat like James Woods.
On the matter of this movie, however, I think I will pass because...
1.) The trailer was cliche and uninteresting, unlike the spot for Gere's excellent musical Chicago.
2.) The age gap between the actors looks outright silly. Woody Allen silly (and I even love some of his films, but come on, he should realize that he ain't a spring chicken anymore).
3.) I'm just not much of a J-Lo fan, either as an actress or a "singer" (she does have a hell of a butt on her).
I'll see Team America: World Police instead. I'm laughing right now thinking about the trailer, i.e. "They're turning West on Bakalakadaka street".
"I'll personally never let Susan Sarandon see a dime of my money after her horrendous anti-war commercials...remember "What have they ever done to us?""
I remember that. Pretty much the height of Hollywood "activist" lunacy. But come on, ALL Sarandon films, or just all new ones?
Be a pal will 'ya, and let's do the Time Warp again...
Watch the original Japanese film. It's pretty good.
