Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Hairband? A pencil? Marbles? A toad? - no, that's little boys.
I know from experience that putting a toad or grasshoppers in your pocket doesn't work real well.
For one thing...toads pee when they're scared.
Not good.
Needs to be something just important enough that someone else would pick it up and keep it to return to her, but not important enough that she would worry too much about it if she couldn't find it for a couple of weeks.
Maybe a hairband. I never wore 'em...so I didn't think of that.
I had a major scare.
I don't do the bills, you know? I just hand them all to Steve and he pays them. I give him a "wish list" of groceries and he gets the most important stuff and some extras if he can. Right? Ok.
He sent me an email, telling me about how much we had left over after bills. So I says "What about this electric bill?" He said "I'm pretty sure I already paid it, open it and see." So I open it and it's this hugh bill...I nearly dropped dead of a heart attack. A disconnect notice at that. My chest just felt like a ton of bricks got tossed on it.
So I emailed him back and he called the electric company. Emailed me back that he had indeed paid that bill last month and we have $28 credit!
I need a cup of decaf tea (and a healthy shot of whiskey.)
Lip gloss, maybe?
Not asking what personal experience you have with toads.
Been there. Lots of times.
~slides a cup of chamomile tea over to 2J~
I think ASG, I don't really want a new place to live. If we get to stay in this area, I'd just soon keep this home. Sure, it's small...but it's also mighty cheap. We could improve it. It's got a hugh back yard and room for my chickens. It's got the great shop!
Then we could save money for the jedi's college.
Yeah some of the rabid ones are a bit odd but these would be Freepers.... how bad could it be? (yeah I know that is a dangerous phrase to tempt Murphy with)
Thank you both very much!!!
Not a bad idea. And the house you're in is in good shape. I, on the other hand, live in the money pit.
Yeah, it looks purty on the outside ('cept for the mold and spider poop), but we got a lot of work (and money to spend) on the inside. It never ends.
I would trade square footage for quality construction any day (and besides, there wouldn't be room for Nana...)
Yep...this is a well-built house...I must admit. It needs some minor repair...some of the siding needs to be replaced and there's a bit of rot in one of the boards in the trim. But that's normal repair stuff that has to be done and we just can't do it right now.
I want to paint the exterior. It's such a small house that Steve and I could do it in a weekend, probably.
I'd like to replace the kitchen cabinet doors and re-vinyl and recarpet. But no sense recarpeting until the poodle is house-broken! LOL Also, the ceiling in the kitchen is a drop down ceiling...I want to take that out and put it back to just a regular ceiling. There's a vent up there that is completely functional but covered by drop down ceiling!!!
These are not horribly expensive things to do and we could do it ourselves.
I think it's very cool that they had more help than they could use! That's a good sign!
See ya 'round!
It ends?
There's a billboard in downtown Dallas. It's got a picture of Mr. Daniel, and says "I'm Jack Daniel, and I approved this ad."
